Pre de Provence Shea Butter Enriched Beard Oil For Soft, Shiny, Smooth Results (1 fl oz) - Sage

Pre de Provence Shea Butter Enriched Beard Oil For Soft, Shiny, Smooth Results (1 fl oz) - Sage

I never thought anything could replace Tabac, yet here it is!

Pre de Provence has a beautiful, fresh, distinguished, and dignified scent. Not overpowering, but not too muted either. if I had to look for a word, it would be "Gentleman."

It lathers a heap right out of the gate. The lather has great creamy consistency and gives wonderful cushion and a slickness that takes a bit of rinsing to remove. This is a good quality. All that slickness offers a lot of protection.

I dare say ANY first time wet shaver will have absolutely no problem building a lather with this soap!

The puck is a generous size and amount and comes in a great tin with a screw top lid. Based on how easy it is to load a brush and build alter, this is going to easily last for a year or two.

My new favorite!

Very nice aftershave balm. I get a lot of moisture, and I would say is one of the top of the line after shave balms. The scent is nice, but not overpowering, and a little bit goes a long way. For a wet shaver it is essential to have a good aftershave balm that provides moisture, antiseptic, and relief after a shave. There is no alcohol so this won't dry your face out. I really enjoy it and put it in the same category as L'ocitaine but with a lower price tag. I am definitely impressed with it.

At 16 months of daily shaving, with two and sometimes three passes each time, this blows away the cost per shave of any other soap I've used. If you went to safety razors because you were excited about how cheap the blades are, this is definitely a soap for you. Honestly, one of the few complaints I could make about it is that that's a lot of time to get bored of the fragrance.

Thankfully, while boredom comes easily, it's impossible to be offended at this soap's scent. It's so very clean and mild. For some reason it made me think, "French laundry," every time I used it.

It's very forgiving about water. It's hard to make a sloppy and loose foam, but it also lathers easily from a small amount of water. However, while it always lubricates enough, it's definitely not the world class thick and dense lather you can get from some other soaps.

PdP aftershave balm has the same pleasant scent as their shaving soap, and if full of moisturizers that can help condition dry skin after a shave. When I use this is leaves my face feeling soft and moisturized all day. Having said that this isn't my favorite balm, as it can leave me feeling oily if I use too much, the trick with this stuff is to use it very sparingly. Also the metal tube isn't an ideal container for his balm as the balm is very fluid and a little squeeze can easily cause a lot of balm to rush out.

Over all I like this, and if you are looking for a balm to pair to the wonderful PdP soap this is it. However I wish it came in a slightly more user-friendly container.

This is the first hard shave soap I've purchased that wasn't a disappointment. It loads and lathers extremely quickly. It's luxuriously rich and doesn't dry out quickly or dissipate, and provides the requisite slickness and moisture. It smells more like a soap than a cologne, but that's just fine with me. It's not a strong scent, so it's not like it will overpower an aftershave or cologne. I'd suggest using a boar or synthetic brush instead of a badger brush, but that's just like, my opinion, man. I bought this almost two months ago, and I can still see/read the text on the top of the puck (though the logo has faded). I shave every two to three days.

Just started wet shaving. First time using soap, I struggled to get good lather, but it was all technique. This is a very hard soap. You need to spend almost as much time loading brush as making lather. Since this is a very dense soap, a single use doesn’t even remove the embossed logo. Don’t be afraid to practice. I went ahead and prepared lather twice before second shave. I wasn’t shy about loading the brush the 2nd and 3rd time and was able to make a great lather. Generates a very thick, sustained lather. The scent is pleasant and doesn’t linger. Second shave was great. It went on easily, gave a great shaving surface, and rinced off easily. Given the amount and hardness of soap, I expect this to last a year or more of 5x week shaving. Great value for price.

First of all I would buy this just to put it on my sink. It comes in the coolest aluminum foil tube that takes me back to the '40s and '50s when these were popular. How does it work? Just fine. A little goes a long way. Although I am an old guy, I am new to wet shaving so I have been experimenting with several products. This is a good one. My face feels very soft and smooth after shaving. I use the Japanese extremely sharp Feather blades, so I only need to shave every other day. This stuff spreads so well that I usually rub off the excess on the bottoms of my feet. Since I wear sandals six months a year, my feet get really bad calluses. The leftovers I have used have softened up the bottoms of my feet in a couple of months. This is no small benefit as I am a sandal wearer six months a year and the bottoms of my feet get as hard as plastic. Now, they have softened up considerably.

I had a few artisan soaps that I thought lathered pretty well, but this just lathers beautifully and the other soaps now pale in comparison. The soap puck is also very, very hard so after 4 shaves with this soap I've hardly put a dent in it. The scent is hard to describe. When I first cracked this bad boy open and took a whiff, I was struck with the scent of a bar of hotel soap. Since I've gotten used to it, however, I've come to really love the scent. It's got subtle floral tones. It's a soft, clean, somewhat soapy scent but not to the extent that it'll put you off or give you a headache from the fumes. It's the kind of scent that you won't get tired of using every day. I can't see myself going back to the other soaps I have anytime soon. I love this stuff.

Because this soap is so hard (and will last you a long time), because it lathers well and gives great slickness and good post-shave feel, and because you get so much of it (150g) in a beautifully smelled way, for the price I'd judge this soap as excellent value for money. Give it a try!

My husband shaves his head, so alcohol-based aftershaves are much too astringent. This balm is very moisturizing and a great alternative to harsher after shaves. The scent is not as strong as other common aftershaves, but I like it very much, your mileage may vary. The only negative thing I have to mention is that it can take 2 or more hand washes to get all of it off your hands. All in all, the best aftershave he's come across, having tried more than ten.

My skin is quite sensitive and I've tried lots of aftershave balms. This has been my favorite for about a year. Very soothing: it calms razor burn in a matter of 1-2 minutes. Smells terrific upon application, but the scent doesn't linger, which I like. Also feels cool and refreshing going on — goes on nice and clean with no oily residue. Also, a tube will last several months at least, based on using it every other day. At the price, this stuff is a real bargain!
