Let me start by saying that my beard is difficult. I'm mixed (white/black) and my beard grows in very coarse, a little curly, dense and my skin is naturally pretty dry. These factors cause natural discomfort (though not nearly as much as the damage from shaving do to sensitive skin). I started trying balms to see if i could get the wire bird's nest on my face under control. The short answer is yes, but different brands have provided pretty different results.
Ive tried Honest Amish, Grave Before Shave, caveman and now Wild Willies brand balms before, all of which have helped my beard substantially but Wild Willies is by far the best to date.
Smell: One whiff and you'll get what all of the buzz is about in these reviews. This stuff smells amazing! I find it hard to describe but it is definitely a little piney with a crisp sweet undertone. It's been well received by various types of folk where I'm from.
Moisturizing: My beard is thirsty. Dryness and very dense/fast growth leave my skin uncomfortable if left unattended for too long. Enter Willies, the balm that lasts long. Its one of the only balms that seems to keep application minimal. I'm rarely tempted to reapply towards the end of the day as i have been with most of the other brands.
Hold: Wild Willies has more hold than any of the brands i mentioned above and after my buddy tried some detroit balm the other day, im pretty sure its got more than that as well (the standard, idk about their extra grip). Wild doesn't grab all of my unruly flyaways but it does much better than a lot of the other options out there.
Residual Effects: The most interesting thing about Wild Willies is just how soft, shiny and fresh it leaves your beard even if you skip a day. No, not excess oil or anything, just better quality hair where your old scruff was. My skin and hair are notably healthier all around after a couple weeks of use.
Worth every penny, a quality product
I ordered a small tin of Beard Butter, and it arrived at my door quickly and all in one piece. When I opened the package I found a small plastic bag labeled "Beard Butter" inside there was a small cloth drawstring bag with the Manscape company logo printed on the side. I found this to be a very nice presentation. When I finally opened the pouch to see my tiny tin of beard butter (and I mean WOW, it sure was tiny!) to my surprise and disappointment I was holding a tin of mustache wax. I contacted Manscape for a return, and they took great care to expedite my exchange and contacted me with a personalized email expressing their regrets for the mistake. I am of the opinion that, mistakes happen, but how one recovers and makes up for things afterwards, means everything. In my opinion Manscape made up for the mistake with excelent customer service. I am pleased with the experience, and I would recommend them to a friend. The reason I am giving them 4 stars instead of 5, is because I believe that the price is a little high for such a tiny tin of product. The small tin is perfect for someone who wants to try the stuff without too much commitment, but I think $10 is a bit over priced. The Beard Butter is a really nice product though. I had never used styling products in my beard before, but I am very pleased with how the Beard Oil and Beard Butter make the hair on my face feel soft and manageable. The Beard Butter works to control the scraggly hairs from being out of control, but do not feel sticky or heavy in your beard. I was expecting it to feel like a gel or palmade, but to my surprise, it didn't feel like that at all. Just work the product into your beard with your fingers, then comb and brush your beard like you normally would. The product holds the hairs in place, but doesn't feel like you've got anything on. I love it and I will buy it again in the larger size.
My husband loves this. He uses the beard wash and rinse in the shower and then follows up with this and his beard looks so much better. He has 4c hair so it's so important to keep it moisturized but most other products break your face out. Really glad to have found something that works!
Great product. My current job does require me to shave, and as a result, my face is often left feeling dry and flakey. I use the butter to help keep my skin soft and smooth (it helps with razor bumps too). When I do let my facial hair grow out, it keeps it soft and gives it a healthy shine.
Update (07-11-2017): I've since left my job that wouldn't allow me to grow a beard. I've let my beard grow out since (about a year or two now) and been applying the balm to do it daily. It leaves my beard feeling soft and moisturized, as well as a nice shine. I recently tried the peppermint balm and love it. It is a little thicker than the original, but I love the tingling sensation and smell of the peppermint after applying it to my beard. The only con to the balm is that it can feel a little "heavy" in the summer.
I have tried a number of products since attempting to grow a beard. They all helped with dryness, itching, etc. to varying degrees.
But Wild Willie's Beard Butter is the greatest!
1) Unlike ANY of the others, there is NO oily feel in my beard at all. That was my main problem with the others I have tried.
2) My wife actually likes the smell and this is a 1st also. I personally had no issues with the others but "Happy Wife, Happy Life!"
3) This is the 1st time my beard actually feels soft.
4) Easiest to apply of any beard balm/conditioner yet. I think this may be because it is softer to begin with or the higher amount of Shea Butter.
5) And...Actually less expensive than most!
If your beard is like mine (thick hair shafts & super kinky/wiry) then give this a try before you give up.

My husband can have any look he wants with this beard butter. He loves the grooming ability. Love the control. We like the organic ingredients and this stuff is moisturizing. He likes this product.
This is some great stuff. My husband grew his beard out during November and decided he wanted to keep it. Well he went ahead and shaved it at the first of the year to let it grow back new. He has this stuff now and his beard is softer than ever. It smells wonderful too. There was one part of his chin beard that wouldn't grow because that is where he rubs his finger over it when he is thinking. lol. He has been putting this stuff on it and now it has grown back. This makes the beard hair unbelievably soft. I also put a little of it on the ends of my hair tips as an added leave-in conditioner. It works!
I bought wild willies when I had a particularly bushy beard this past winter and my girlfriend complained about it being "pokey." It does the job and it smells GOOD! It had my beard feeling much softer. It seems to work best if I apply it right after I pat-dry my face after a shower when my face is slightly damp. I will say coconut oil will accomplish a similar function for a fraction of the price, if not the piney smell. For $20 I think this product is a little pricey unless you are really serious about your beard.
This stuff is awesome. Most "beard balm" is super waxy and stiff, making it hard to get all around your beard without sticking in clumps.
Beard butter lives up to its name by being soft and buttery, easy to put on your fingers and get it evenly spread throughout your beard. It smells clean and fresh, and really keeps my beard from getting super frizzy.
This puts all beard balms to shame, without question you should buy this over any other type of beard product.
Its a good beard balm. I think the scent is fairly neutral and mild. As far as hold goes, it seems to be slightly better than my previous balm (grave before shave viking blend), but it isn't very strong by any stretch. It is strong enough to generally shape your beard, but it doesn't take care of all of the crazy hairs. That being said, I think you would need some straight wax to handle ALL wild hairs. I like it and use it along with their beard oil (which I REALLY like).
