I have now shaved my beard. I don't miss it. However, when I grew mine out in all of it's lumberjack glory, this was the ONLY product that tamed it. I would apply half the instructed amount 3-4 times a day. The scent is warm, inviting and very natural. Almost worldly smelling - like that "Most Interesting man in the world" guy. It is a little greasy, but only if you get too much. It dries/soaks in matte, not oily. It really does make a coarse/wiry beard feel very soft and keeps it from impaling others while kissing.
I loved the idea of a beard, but did not like the stereotype and overall look it gave me. Personal preference - but nothing to do with this product. I tried about a dozen...finally the wife told me to quit being high maintenance and just pick something that worked...luckily this not only worked, but worked beyond my expectations. I honestly have nothing bad to say about it.
This is reporting what was told to me. This man never used any oil or balm on his huge beard. I had been reading and watching YouTube videos on caring for a beard so I can pass the tips on. (I used to be a cosmetologist so I'm interested in hair and skin). I gave him a lovely pure Olive oil and Laurel soap (from Cozy Mall) to wash with. He said the soap made his beard soft and his skin felt moisturized. (He never washed his beard with anything except dial bar soap, sigh). He loved how his beard felt. I then gave him this balm. He put a bit on and rubbed it in, into beard and skin. He said his beard was tamed and softer. I asked if the scent was to strong and he said no, he liked the scent. (sandalwood is one of my favorite fragrances so I was excited that I may be able to 'steal' an almost used tin for my fingernails). I smelled it and the scent was very light but noticeable. Good scent of sandalwood...on the side of an Egyptian Sandalwood. I think Indian Sandalwood is the epitome of heaven, Egyptian second. Overall, the price and how nicely the balm turned to oil and then completely soaked into his hair and skin, I think this is an excellent balm that I'll keep buying him. He's growing his pure white beard out for Christmas, like he does every year, then shaves it. I told him to keep his beard and to keep it healthy and it will always look nice. Will buy him a new tin when this one is close to finished.
Upon receiving this balm today, I opened it and I guess I dont really know what sandalwood smells like. I thought it was going to be more of a wood scent, but it's really pungent. I went ahead and tried it anyway hoping that it was not as strong when applied. It was still pretty strong and pungent and having it directly under my nose, I couldn't take it.
It did however manage my beard hairs pretty well so on leaving three stars. Maybe I'll try the other scent next time.
EDIT: changing my review to 5 stars. This company contacted me to ask how I liked the product and when they learned i wasnt completely satisfied, they refunded my money. Thats customer service.
Hey folks! This is a decent balm & the tin is a good size too. Not like I’d put it in my pocket & go but then again this is 2oz. Great for putting in your backpack or briefcase. My only complaint is that this really doesn’t smell much like sandalwood. The scent is faint. That’s too bad because I LOVE sandalwood & really wanted this to be much more of a product note than it is. Oh well. Just know it is a faint scent & if you want that, this is perfect for you.
Smells amazing without being overwhelming or leaving you smelling like you just got rolled by a tree. Keeps the beard in check and has left mine feeling softer with less product used than with creams. I'd highly recommend!

This is the second balm I bought from Viking Revolution and I couldn’t be happier with the product!! Not only does it have a great consistency, it’s smooth and easy to apply just like the first one I bought. After loving the consistency of the balm the first go aroun, but being disappointed by the lack of scent I am extremely happy with the scent and how long it lasts with this one.
To make things even better Viking Revolution takes pride in their products. They contacted me about this one, and I told them how I was disappointed by the scent of the previous purchase but loved the balm consistency and ease of use, and was hoping this scent was stronger and lasted longer. I didn’t ask for a refund, but they took the initiative to refund my last purchase because I wasn’t 100% happy! I don’t know many companies that do that! This product is as good as any beard balm I have used and it is a lot less expensive. The sandalwood scent is mild but pleasing. I for one don't go for an overpowering fragrance. I will definitely order this product again when this tin is starting to get low. Give it a try. I definitely softened my old wiry beard to where it is much softer and more manageable. I ride a motorcycle so my beard takes a beating with the wind, rain and direct sunlight. Not to mention the occasional bugs! Ha,ha!
I had been looking for a balm to make my beard feel better. I have used different balms but they never did the trick. This one works perfectly and is backed by a great company. I have had nothing but good experiences with this company. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a good beard balm. Smells great.
When I was looking for a product to soften my newly grown beard there were many similar products to choose from. I chose this because of the provided product info. Since I've never used these types of product before I really had no Idea which was better. I'm really glad I chose this one. After just a few days of use I've truly noticed a difference in the softness of my beard. I had to give this one 5 thumbs up. Just a little goes a long way.
Product has a pleasant and not overpowering scent. Emulsifies in your hands faster than some other popular brands. Good for Taming a not too unruly beard. If you are sculpting or trying to tame a crazy frazzled beast of a beard you may want something with a little more beeswax. In all this is a really quality product. And the company seems pretty responsive.
