After reading other reviews my expectations were high that this wax would tame my unruly wire brush. I had previously used a Badger brand wax which was much too soft and only held for about 20-30 minutes.
First impressions with Death Grip have been positive. It softened with heat as others have described and has the consistency of honey when warm. It imparts a mild pine scent, likely due to the ingredient of pine rosin. Once it cools in a minute or so it's hold is firm but still malleable. It held all day, though I still had a few strays that I had to keep smoothing back into place. I've been experimenting with different amounts to find the best hold and so far greater amounts seem to do little to improve the hold. Likely the firmness of the wax is the limiting factor short of applying more wax than I have lip hair.
Update July 2, 2018:
I've been playing with some differing amounts and my mustache behaves appreciably better with more wax. The overall hold is still not the same as a two-part epoxy as some reviews may have you believe, but it is on the firmer end of hold. I have no problems recommending it, try some.
So I bought both a tin of the "Death Grip" and "Olde Country" (a less sticky wax from the same company), and I can safely say that the Death Grip is my go-to stuff. I'm not trying to do anything fancy, but this seems to be the required viscosity to keep my damn moustache from falling into shambles by the end of the day. It's true that you have to apply heat with a hairdryer (i.e. follow the instructions) for it to work but at the end of the day its the path of least resistance.
This stuff is great! This is the first moustache wax that I have used, and it took a little bit of time to get the curl on the ends just right, but overall it works awesome. I heat it up in the tin with a hair dryer, then take just a tiny bit and pull it through all the moustache hairs Then take just a bit more and create the shape I'm looking for, usually a loop on the end but some times just straight out to the side. One application will last all day and then some. This stuff isn't even hard to wash out. Will buy again, but this will last quite a while.
Got my wax today. I had not had much luck with other waxes. Not that they were bad, just not enough hold. So, when I heard about this one, I was intrigued. When I opened the can, I noticed it has a screw down cap, pretty nice. Also, it comes with a guitar pick inside. At first I thought: what's the point? But after trying to get some out with my fingers, it became clear, (probably should have added heat first) This stuff is so thick and sticky, you need the pick to take it out and use a sparing amount. The name isn't misleading, this stuff is like gorilla glue. It's so sticky, it's almost hard to get it off your hands. And when it dries, it's set. It's like super hold hair gel times 10. If I had to find any cons, it almost works too well. This is the strongest hold wax I've ever used. It's even hard to get out of your mustache. But that's not really a genuine bad thing, it's the best hold I've ever used. And it's all natural. If you need max hold, I can't recommend it enough. A little sticky, but a small trade off.
Was looking for some new mustache wax What on YouTube found this thought I'd try it let me tell you something you take this out put a little bit on your mustache curl it up let it sit and I'm telling you your mustache will hold that shape forever. When it comes time to wash it out hot water won't do it you got to take baby oil to it as some cotton balls and rub it rub it rub it and it will come out it just takes a few minutes but this stuff holds the curl on a mustache very well I'm glad I bought it.

This wax has by far the strongest hold I've seen.
I have tried a couple of times to "train" my mustache, but I always gave up and trimmed because no wax ever really worked for me. My mustache has some really crazy hair near my nose. These couple of hair strands are super annoying and no wax has ever held them for more than 30 seconds. I've have tried a handful of waxs(some brand name, some generic). Death grip managed to hold them in place for about 4 hours.
However I have a habit of putting my hands to my face and mustache so it may actually hold for longer.
Anywho, I included two photos; one of my nude mustache (right out of the shower/no product applied yet) and one after I applied death grip.
As for the smell, ehh it's not bad but it's not good either.
Update: I've used the product for a couple of days now and I can see progress. My "crazy hairs" are begin to give way.. If you are trying to train your mustache I recommend this.
This is probably the best mustache wax I can find I have extremely curly hair and my handlebars always seem to push forward like a crab wanting to attacking somebody. A word of caution, this mustache wax is extremely strong and extremely sticky but that's a good thing.
Successful application and styling take a little practice but this wax will definitely tame your mountain man stache, sweep it into your statement style and keep it there in hurricane force winds. I typically warm the surface with the lighter, slather a little on with the included pick and then hit it with a little blast from a hair dryer before combing it through. A little twirl on the ends and I'm ready to tie people to railroad tracks all day long.
Whoa, Death Grip is a very apt description! warming up in the pocket is not an option anymore, must use heat. This stache tamer goes on smooth and silky when warmed up properly. You can apply it at body temp, but be prepared to yank a few lip locks out (Ouch!). But love the hold and the pine scent is pleasing as well. Definitely a keeper.

This is one of the best moustache waxes that I have used in my 2 years of beginning my mustache adventure and have had a great deal of use for this wax. I have been using this wax for about a week and a half now. I live out my school year in Riverside, California with temperatures ranging from 80 to high 90s F. I have used Windy City Mustache Wax, Fisticuffs Mustache Wax, and Cock Grease Mustache Wax of which I would say this is the best of them. I usually buy on a budget since I'm still in school so this is one of the better ones when it comes to price. Overall it's a good wax in hot weather and not having to apply too much for a solid hold.
