RAINBOW RESEARCH HENNA,PERSIAN LIGHT BROWN, 4 OZ Pack of 2

RAINBOW RESEARCH HENNA,PERSIAN LIGHT BROWN, 4 OZ Pack of 2

I just dyed my hair with this product for the first time. I have been using Clairol Natural Instincts 7A/10 Sandalwood Dark Cool Blonde for years to cover my grey hair but wanted something more natural. I did the strand test and could not see any difference in color, so I dyed my hair. It's exactly the same color as the dark cool blonde and it covered all my grey hair. On top of that, I used only 3 TBS of the henna, so the 2 boxes will last for a long time. I'm super happy with the results. It really is light brown, no red tones at all.

First of all, this stuff is great for coloring your grays in the most natural way possible.
CONS: It DID take color out of my hair, I know it says it can't, but it did. I think it was because I left it on far too long. This particular light brown henna may still impart a lot of red tones, or brassiness. Just FYI. I did do a couple of trial swatches, but for some reason, once it was on my head all common sense left me and I thought after all that work I needed to really make sure my resistant grays took the color. I dont think the instructions are detailed enough, while indigo does not need time to develop, Henna certainly does, but they dont tell you how lond to let it sit prior to using.
PROS: After I color corrected, the color is great, and the grays are truly colored, this is better than any salon process color you can imagine. The grays are like lighter stands of warm brown, there is just no way any salon could come close to how natural this looks.
I made some mistakes with it, but I think I can tweak the process a bit. Background info, I have fine, curly light brown hair with about 20% white-gray hair. The grays are very resistant to taking color, and my brown hair loses color very easily and turns light in the sun.
I mixed it with coffee, to control brassiness. l left it on for over 3 hours, (in the future would do no more than 1 or 2 hours max). I did mix it and let it sit for like 10 hours before I used it. My hair, both the grays and the browns came out far too brassy, ( think Ronald Mcdonald or Howdy Doody). I quickly had to order and then apply a second application of straight Indigo, (left on for 30 min) and it turned the brassy reds to a warm, light brown. I am impressed by how long my grays have held the color. It has been about 3 weeks, and I have used all sorts of shampoos none of which are sulfate free or anything like that, and the color is still there. I can almost forget I ever had gray hair.
My hair felt very dry after this henna, but was fine after I did one application of deep conditioning. Next time, because I really wanted more of a brownish color, I'll be using the medium brown color, of this same brand. My advice is: Mix with coffee or tea. let sit for 2 or 3 hours. Use a small dollar store paint brush, I cut one down so the bristles were only 2 inches long. Do not leave it on more than 2 hours. Have some indigo on hand to color correct using the 2 process henna/indigo method, just in case you are worried.

I was super hesitant to try henna for my hair because I lived in the Middle East for a while and I had these visions of old village grandmothers who had carrot orange heads from henna. That said, I am trying to be more natural with the products I use on my hair and I knew at some point I had to switch coloring my hair with chemicals to something more natural. I had dirty blond hair to start out with. It had been colored a light neutral brown about 2 months previous. I used about half of one bottle because I have thin hair along with black tea, 2 Tablespoons of vinegar, and 2 Tablespoons of olive oil. I also added 1 teaspoon of amla powder which I got at an Indian grocery store because I heard it counterbalances the red tones in henna. As I put it on my hair it already felt amazing...like a spa day or something. I didn't feel this was as hard or messy to apply as I was expecting (I have thin hair...it might be a different story on thick heads). I left it on covered in plastic wrap for about 1 hour. It does take a bit of effort to wash it out. My hair looks super healthy and my scattered white hairs that have been popping up are covered. The color change isn't dramatic but I like that. I could see still a small line from where my hair was previously colored. I just couldn't believe how much body my hair had after this treatment. I have a slight slight copper tint going but nothing that is red or pronounced. I did feel that the product didn't have a super strong "henna" smell (again, time in the middle east, it's very distinctive) so this light brown color might be heavy on the clear henna or indigo. That said I'm super happy to cover the white hairs with something adding health to my hair instead of destroying it!

This product is wonderful, I want to keep my white hair, but because I'm starting to grow it, it looks weird. I decided that I want to use something natural, that no mess up my hair, and give me time to adjust to this change. I used 2 times, mix with coffee, the one that you use with your coffee maker, just like if you going to prepare your self a coffee, I mix this powder that smell awful and looks bad too, BUT does the job as a miracle, my white hair looks like highlights, I leave this mix for 1 to 2 hrs, then wash my hair really good, and the results are incredible. No more fitting with dying my hair every 2 to 3 weeks, this product last longer then I expect.

Excellent product, as expected. I used to get all kinds of red from 100% henna hair color when I was young. Now I got some gray hair, 5-10%, so had to find a product which covers it before I need something more powerful and alas chemical. This Light Brown Rainbow Research color is a mixture of Lasonia Inermis, Indogofera and Cassia Orbovata, so it covers gray hair quite well. The color is quite deep and deposits even deeper with each application. The only strands I'd call "light brown" are the grays after coloring. But that's to be expected from this type of hair color. I have very light brown with ash undertones hair color, now I'm deep medium brown with just a hint of red and strands of light brown, almost honey color (the covered gray). I use it every 4-5 weeks. Conditioning effect is just as great as with 100% henna. I go to the pool often and the hair still looks great. With it being a 100% natural hair color I love it despite a darker shade than my natural one.

RAINBOW RESEARCH HENNA,PERSIAN LIGHT BROWN, 4 OZ Pack of 2

I have been using this product for nearly a decade because I was uncomfortable with the ingredients in other products. It covers grey very well and has a slight reddish tint.

I have found that it covers best if my hair is really squeeky clean, so I shampoo with castile soap before I apply the henna.

Over the years I have streamlined the process - I add boiling water to about 1/4 cup of the henna in a glass bowl until it becomes the consistency of catsup. Then, I let it cool, wash my hair with soap, and just scoop handfuls of the mixture onto my head. While the shower is still running, I massage it in (I have relatively short hair) , wrap a plastic grocery bag over my mucky hair and fasten with an alligator clip, and then rinse off the rest of me. I wrap up in an old robe, wait an hour, then rinse it all off. Right after the rinse, I pour a half-cup of vinegar mixed with water over my hair to tighten the cuticle. If you do this be careful - vinegar stings your eyes. Finally, I rinse all the vinegar off, apply conditioner, and I'm done. Takes about 1 1/2 hours.

My hair is dry, medium to dark brown, dyed blonde with about 50% grey coming in at the roots. The henna has turned my hair a warm light brown, a lovely color. To make the henna "take" on your hair, add 2 TBSP apple cider vinegar and 2 TBSP olive oil (or Bringraj oil, an oil from India formulated for the hair which is what I used) to a bowl. Add enough henna to form a very thick paste. Once done, set aside. Brew some real coffee, about 3/4 cup. Add to the bowl little by little and start mixing, adding more henna as needed to give it a yogurt-like consistency. (As in Greek yogurt, on the thick side). Cover your hair with the paste, put a plastic cap on, and wait an hour. Rinse. Add a conditioner, I used Herbal Essence 0. The conditioner detangles your hair and makes it easier to get the rest of the henna out.

I received the product and couldn't wait to try it. I am mostly gray and have been dying my hair for several years. I had about 2 inches of gray showing and the rest dark brown. I followed the directions exactly. I did not add vinegar or anything as was suggested to help with a more complete coverage of grey. I allowed the product to be on my hair for just under 60 minutes. It did take a long time to wash out and does have a strong earthy, grassy smell. I love the color and it did cover the gray hair completely even though it is lighter than the rest of my hair it gave the rest of my hair a nice highlighted look. I intend to keep using this product until all the dyed hair grows out. My hair and scalp feel much better with this product than using hair dyes.

I have been experimenting with Rainbow Henna for a little over a year now. My hair is a natural salt and pepper now that I'm nearly 60, but was previously an auburn color. I would say that if you are beginning to use henna - remember that "less is more!" I personally combine the Rainbow Conditioner which contains no color in it as a base (about 8-10 TBSP.) and then add just a couple of teaspoons of the light brown color. (I have short hair, so I don't need a large quantity) This combination gives me a more natural looking brownish color with just a touch of red. And this is just about what I'm looking for. After practicing month after month, I realized that I was using too much color (light brown) which resulted in a very bright orange color that I really didn't like and once that color is in, it's very hard and I mean practically impossible to get it out! So, just a little tip if you're getting started using Henna to start with just a touch of color and take it from there. I usually just add hot water to the henna mixture, apply and then cover my head with a plastic cap and then a knit cap over that to keep in the heat. I leave it in for 45 min to an hour and then with the help of conditioner, rinse it out. I don't shampoo until the following day since I have noticed that shampooing immediately afterwards causes quite a bit of the color to rinse out. Good luck!

My husband buys this to dye his beard and hair that is going grey. He hates how poorly he is treated when people see his grey hair and he has noticed a significant difference when he dyes it. He cannot use any chemical based dyes because he has a severe reaction. He uses this once a week to keep his grey at bay. He uses boiled water to mix it and it smells like green tea that has gone bad. If used as directed the color only lasts about 4 days. He found that he can get another 3 days between treatments if he uses coconut oil on his hair 1 hour before applying the dye and he uses a hair dryer on the dye directly after application to harden it on the outside. He sit with it on for about 45 minutes to an hour then washes it off. He has no reactions to this product but beware that it does stain white bath mats if not washed out right away.
