Hannah Natural 100% Pure Henna Powder, 100 Gram

Hannah Natural 100% Pure Henna Powder, 100 Gram

Great! it doesn't damage my hair. One box I used for 2 applications. I achieved my hair color by mixing the powder with beet juice instead of water.

Absolutely GORGEOUS color. Please remember if you mix henna powder with some lemon juice it will NOT fade ever! With water only color eventually will fade (in about 3-4 weeks). I use 50% red henna powder, 50% Cassia (neutral or colorless henna), 2-3 spoonful of turmeric powder, some lemon juice, couple of spoonful of honey and warm water to get that thick yogurt-y consistency. I let it stay overnight at a warm place. Following day I put it on my hair, cover it with a saran wrap and leave it on for about 2 and a half hours. Rinse it and do not shampoo it for a couple of days. The result is a gorgeous copper tone red. Hennad hair will darken a bit during the next 4-5 days. This Henna has 100% gray coverage, love it!! There is a wonderful website where everybody can learn a lot about henna hair, it's called henna for hair and than the dot com, written all together. It's a lot of fun and a wonderful feeling having found a natural hair color that actually does good for my hair.

So it turns out that the only way I can dye my hair at work is if it's a natural color. So that means red. I thought this product may have been too good to be true because of the price, but DANG was I surprised. I used a mixture of one part lemon juice (the cheap stuff it works) and two parts water and kept adding them randomly bit by bit until It was ketchup/yogurt consistency. I covered it and kept it in a dark, room temperature place overnight. when I went back to it the paste no longer looked like bad guacamole (there were still chunks in it), But very smoothed out and looked more orange on the top. I then stirred it, added a bit more lemon juice and water back to yogurt consistency and I was on my way. It is a good idea, as I learned the hard way, to slather it on section by section because the paste isn't smooth at all and makes your hair tangle. I left it on for 3 hours.
The package comes with gloves and a shower cap which was a bonus I did not expect. My hair is short, to the middle of my neck, and average thickness and one of the henna packets (there are two 50 gram packets) was perfect and left me with a little extra for touch up. I don't have a before picture but I have lightish brown hair. Also, don't be alarmed if your hair is more orange than you expected on the first day, it will deepen. Mine was orange/red and turned into auburn/red. You will have so many compliments. So many.

I rarely write any reviews but I have to brag on these non-toxic hair coloring product. I have been looking for a very long time for something non-toxic to color my hair. Here is my experience: I have fine and slightly curly (frizzy) hair that is now a natural salt & pepper color (more salt than pepper) and my husband has soft but not as fine hair that is now naturally all salt color.

My husband was very skeptical but as a cancer survivor had been urging me to find an alternative to the harsh coloring chemicals that we were previously using.

I used myself as the "guinea pig" and did my hair first. To give you some background, I did not color my hair for almost a year and did not use any conditioner when washing my hair for that same period. My hair didn't have any chemical build-up.

I purchased the following 3 products from Amazon and used the following recipe:
- 50 g Hannah Natural 100% Pure Henna Powder, 100 Gram (Red/Copper Color)
- 50 g Hannah Natural 100% Pure Indigo Powder for Hair Dye, 100 Gram (Black Color)
- 2 tablespoons Hesh Herbal Amla / Indian Gooseberry Powder For Dark & Healthy Hair Naturally - 100 gms hesg (Conditioner Powder)
- Dash of regular table salt (helps to release colors)
I mixed these dry ingredients ensuring that there are no lumps.
Then I mixed in:
- 1 tablespoon Olive Oil (makes it much easier to work with and saturates much hair better)
- 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice (also helps to release colors)
- Few drops of aroma skin quality essential oil (optional - decreases strong tea-like smell, because I don't like tea or its smell)
- Hot water - about 1.5 cups, enough to make cake batter consistency mixture.
I used a hand whip from my kitchen to ensure it was properly mixed and lump free.
Then I let it sit till it cools down enough so as not to burn my scalp. When cool, I saturated my whole head - actually over-saturated - and worked it into every strand of hair ensuring that every strand had equal coverage.
Then I got some paper towels and rolled them into a loose roll to wrap around my neck as a drip catcher. Then I used plastic wrap from my kitchen and wrapped my whole head with it, catching the upper edge of the paper towel roll to keep dripping to a minimum.
Then I set my timer for 1.5 hours.
I was really excited to rinse my hair and see how it came out. I was absolutely delighted!!! My natural color is dark brown and this new color was slightly more like a dark copper brown color and turned out beautiful. My color looks very natural and suits my skin tones.
My first coloring lasted 2 months and then I was starting to see some white peeking through. So, I did it again. I have attached a picture that shows the top of my head about 2 weeks after my second coloring.

Now my husband was a different story. He is much more conscious of his "salt" colored hair. He insisted on keeping the store bought colorings going until he could see how my Henna coloring came out. He is also a huge fan of hair conditioner. So, his hair had a great deal of chemical build up.

For my husband's first coloring, I used the same recipe that I had used on my own hair. Unfortunately, it turned his hair an orange/red. It was by no means an ugly color just not very natural looking with his skin tone. After some trial and error colors (we did about 3 colorings in one weekend, we came up with the perfect color combination for him).

His natural color is an ash brown color. To get close to his natural color that would work for his skin tone, I used the following recipe on his hair and it came out a darker brown with a slight tinge of copper when the light hits it the right way..... looks very healthy and natural..... makes him look very handsome.

Here's the final recipe that worked well on my husband
25 g Hannah Natural 100% Pure Henna Powder (Red/Copper Color)
75 g Hannah Natural 100% Pure Indigo Powder for Hair Dye (Black Color)
2 tablespoons Hesh Herbal Amla / Indian Gooseberry Powder For Dark & Healthy Hair Naturally (Conditioner Powder)
Dash of regular table salt (helps to release colors)
I mixed these dry ingredients ensuring that there are no lumps.
Then I mixed in:
2 tablespoon Olive Oil (makes it much easier to work with and saturates much hair better)
2 tablespoon Lemon Juice (also helps to release colors)
Didn't use any aroma essential oil because my husband loves tea and the smell of tea.
Hot water - about 1 3/4 cups, enough to make cake batter consistency mixture.
I used a hand whip from my kitchen to ensure it was properly mixed and lump free.
Again, I let it sit till it cooled down enough to put on his scalp. His scalp was much more sensitive than mine, which mean the mixture was hardly luke-warm. I then over-saturated his whole head and worked it into every strand of hair ensuring that nothing had been missed.

Then I wrapped the paper towel around his neck and wrapped his whole head with plastic wrap and set the timer for 3 hours (double the time I needed).
At the end of the 3 hours, his hair was amazing.

So, please don't discredit these non-toxic products if your first try didn't work like you had hoped. Sometimes, you have to do some trial and error colorings till you are pleased with the results.

Additional benefits that we have discovered when using these products are:
- the hair fall-out has decreased significantly. We used to have a huge ball of hair on the shower floor drain after each hair washing. That has now decreased to just a few hairs after each washing.
- another change is that we no longer use conditioner after shampooing. Our hair is soft and fluffy and easily managed. A little hair spray keeps it in place all day long.
- the color also seems to last much longer than the store bought colors we previously used. I always did my husband's colorings and had to ensure that I made time every two weeks to color his hair. Now, I do his coloring's once a month or so.
- the price for each coloring has also significantly decreased, leaving me more shopping money.

I learned some tips I can share and might help other girls to make this pure henna to work the best. 1) mix henna powder with water and let it sit for 24 hours 2) apply on hair evenly (I have an Indian lady who does this in her saloon) and let it cure for minimum 2 hours. The henna is active until wet, once dried, wash it. The longest I had it on was overnight, but the result was simmilar to a 4hour wait 3) Wash the henna from hair with water only! do not use shampoo or condicioner after wash. After rinsing it off completely, use mustard oil and let it cure the color even more. Mustard oil should stay on for 12-24 hours. I purchased mustard oil in Indian spices store, cost $3.5 After about 24 hours wash your hair with sulfate free shampoo and sulfate free condicioner. I hope my little tutorial will help you to achieve best results. :)

I am obsessed with this henna. I have been hennaing my hair on and off since high school. I have always used Mountain Light Henna... never have switched brands and now will never go back. This henna ROCKS! Less gritty, better color, not a stinky, easier to apply, easier to wash out... LOVE LOVE it. I made up the paste and let it sit for 1.5 days (didn't have time to apply when I thought I would). Added a dash of lemon juice. I have dark brown hair with red highlights naturally, but have never been able to achieve this color of red! I am thrilled. Ordered again immediately!

I absolutely love Hannah Natural 100% Pure Henna Powder. My natural hair color is black and I have a lot of grey hair. The henna color attached very well to the grey hair and a little less to the black hair and now it just looks like I have red highlights. Everyone complimented me on my hair color today, including my husband who didn't want me to color my hair. He said he liked the new color. He said it was, "Dazzling!" I mixed half water and half lemon juice with the henna power. I left the solution on for two hours and I am very pleased with the result. The process was so easy I know I will be using henna for the rest of my life. This product is excellent.

This stuff is AWESOME! Let me start by telling you a little bit of background...

Two years ago my hair was down to my waist but it was damaged so one day I decided a drastic change would be the best change and I had my hair cut to 4 inches in length at the longest point, with the back shaved. I wanted to get rid of all the damaged hair and grow out my natural hair, greys and all! Like I said, that was two years ago. A couple months ago I started getting really tired of my plain old brown and grey hair, but refrained from dying due to not wanting to damage my natural hair again. One day I happened upon a YouTube video by an Indian woman explaining what henna is. She had perfect, gorgeous hair so I figured I'd try it.

I chose this particular offer due to the great price of $3.95. When I got it in the mail I prepared the mixture right away using plain old WATER! I mixed it until it was the consistency of wet cement, so it was plenty malleable but not runny. Due to this I barely had any mess to clean up afterwards. I coated my hair with the mixture, wrapped it in plastic wrap, and waited for nearly 4 hours. That was about as long as I could take being wrapped in that uncomfortable plastic wrap. When I rinsed it out I washed with shampoo and then rinsed with diluted Apple Cider Vinegar. My natural color is a medium-dark brown and this turned my hair the most GORGEOUS, bright, shiny, warm, and deep copper color. My grey hair turned into a lighter copper color, which provided natural-looking highlights. The color was truly vibrant! The best part is that it looks like my hair is naturally this pretty copper color! I've gotten compliments on it from so many women. Some have even asked if it was my natural color! Even my teenaged son said it looked cool! Perhaps even BETTER than my previous best part is that this stuff made the texture of my hair thicker and stronger! Three weeks later and my color is still going pretty strong, but I'm going to go ahead and do another application today. I am going to buy more product and start doing this twice a month. The way I see it is: this stuff is a nourishing, cost-effective hair treatment that just so happens to give it a to-die-for color. Everything about it is well worth it! I will continue to use henna in my hair for the rest of my life!

I'm quite satisfied with the results. I wanted as red as I could get, which turns out is just a natural-looking auburn. Still very pretty, much prettier than brown IMHO.
My recipe was: lemon juice
Apple cider vinegar
Salt (1-2 tbsp depending on hair)
Honey
Paprika (which I was out of but would've used)
Coconut oil (generous amount)
Argan oil (a little)
Cinnamon
Hibiscus tea (most important)
I also would've used some beet juice if I had any. After I put in all the other ingredients, I just kept adding hibiscus tea until it was the cake batter consistency I wanted (it's better if you let your husband/boyfriend mix it). I covered it & let it develop for 24hrs, & left it in my hair (covered with a plastic grocery bag) for 6hrs. It is also important to start w/ the roots & work your way down. I rinsed w/ water & conditoner only, as the henna itself helps clean the hair, & it turned out nice & soft. The thing w/ henna is it doesn't dye hair, it stains it, so whatever color u had will be underneath, & it looks slightly different on everyone. B/c I lightened my hair a year & a half ago, I've been starting to get that ombre look from it growing out, & it didn't cover that, just made it red ombre. So keep that in mind.
I forgot to take a b4 pic, so I just tried to find one that shows my hair pretty well. As you can see, I have very long, very thick hair, & I used 400 grams. I know this is high-quality henna too, b/c I had 100 grams at home that a friend gave me that still had the $40 price tag on it(!) & when I emptied that bag & these boxes, they looked identical! So I hope this helps, good luck!

Buying it 2d time :) Makes my hair feels and looks amazing! I got 2 packs for my length, and it was more then enough.
P.S. don't forget to add some coconut oil to make your hair smoother and softer.
