This wax is great. It doesn't have any patroleum jelly in it, so it stays firm and never feels greasy. I have a longer thin handlebar with significant curl, and this wax holds my mustache together and in place all day. I sleep with it in, and when I wake up my mustache is like 90% still held together and just needs a quick touch up.
The scent: I saw a lot of complaints about the scent and was a little apprehensive, but I'm used to scented products. The scent itself is similar to how one's clothes smell after standing around a cedar campfire for a few hours. Kind of smokey and cedary. At first it seemed pretty strong, but I was used to it about an hour later, and now I'm into it.
Firmness: this is a pretty hard wax. Even when warm, it takes some force to scrape any up out of the tin. This is a good thing, as it definitely stays on better. That said, if you don't warm it first or massage it between your finger enough or work it into the hairs enough, it will look clumpy. This isn't a defect, but just improper application. When done correctly it isn't visible.
All in all, this is just the quality of product I've been looking for regarding hold strength and duration, plus it's a lot of product for the price.
I've had this "stache" for over a half-century. Your Woodsman Mustache Wax works better than any other brand I've used.
Being 77 years old, (as you can imagine); my formerly brown stache is WHITE. I appreciate the fact that Woodsman does not have any appreciable "tint" to it, as I wouldn't want my mustache to look "yellow".. ALSO, the consistency is "Just Right"
Thanks for a great product. I would recommend it to anyone that sports a mustache that resembles mine....I have a stache that resembles Paul von Hindenburg, as pictured below, so it takes a "strong" wax to keep it looking spiffy..
I have constantly had the problem of buying Mustache Waxes that were only marginally better than the beard balms I use, almost always leaving me with a droopy mustache. I have tried maybe 5 or 6 before this one, some better than others, but when this one arrived I knew I had found the one.
The hold is very strong, but still very workable. Takes a few times to figure out the exact amount to use for your optimal mustache hold, but once you do it results in a perfect mustache every time! And it will hold up the whole day!
The amount you get is also a crazy good value compared to other brands I've tried! Give it a shot, definitely worth your money!
This is an excellent wax -- more like pine tar! Can apply with your fingers (altho' warming help from a hair dryer is useful, but not necessary) and holds pretty well through the day. My only complaint is that it's a yellow wax and makes my blindingly white mustache look weirdly off, so I won't be using it again. But if you have dark or salt-and-pepper hair, this would be a great choice.
I rarely leave product reviews but felt compelled not only by the product but also by the seller.
After ordering the wax, I ended up receiving the wrong product by amazon and got in contact with the The Bearded Bastard wondering about the mix up. After being informed that the mix up was on Amazon's end, they sent me a replacement free of charge as well as a half oz. barbershop wax so that's five stars out of sheer generosity.
As for the wax itself, it'll definitely tame even the unruliest of whiskers but as is the case with wax, it can be tough to work through the stash (though that's sort of the point). I've found that applying it at the top of the mustache and combing it through, saving a bit for the curled ends to work best and with a little twisting, you're ready to go. A good scrape with your fingernail is all you really need with a bit of hot water to relax the hold.
Definitely worth the price as it'll last you a while and it holds up well. Cheers.

Description
Upon opening the tin you can almost imagine yourself axe in hand, breathing in crisp, clean mountain air, and greeting the day as if you owned it.
All natural, petroleum-free mustache wax. This wax not only has an amazing hold, but also conditions your facial hair at the same time.
About The Bearded Bastard: The Bearded Bastard was founded in 2011 when Jeremiah “The Bearded Bastard” Newton went looking for natural mustache waxes and beard oils to tame his own wily whiskers and came up empty handed.
Not content to settle for petroleum based products with an awful smell, he set to work experimenting with natural ingredients local to Texas to create the Woodsman beard oil and mustache wax that are now used by countless thousands around the world.
Since then, The Bearded Bastard has grown to offer new natural products and fragrances that offer olfactive experiences unlike those found in commercial products.
Each and every beard oil offered by The Bearded Bastard is created with natural ingredients that have been demonstrated to work to soften facial hair and reduce itching and flaking while attracting passersby with their aromatics.
Even today, every product made by The Bearded Bastard is made by hand in Austin, TX, using natural ingredients, real wood labels, and workers paid a fair living wage.
This is American made the way it was intended.
Works pretty well, smells great. I run my fingers under the warmest water I can stand, quickly dry them, then use the back of my thumb nail to scoop a small pea size amount... Then try to spread it into the stache. It's a lot of extra steps, but some have said to hit it with a hair dryer for a few seconds and it'll melt to apply more evenly. I'm sure that would greatly improve my experience. Maybe even the hold strength.
It's easy to scoop a bit out with a fingernail or with the pointy back end of my mustache comb. It's a good bit less stiff than the "ScotsmanUSA" wax I've been using since I picked up a tin of that at the Scottish Games. I prefer the stiffer wax, actually, but this is OK. A lot of it is personal preference and how unruly your mustache hairs are.
I'm generally "perfume adverse", but the piney scent of this didn't bother me.
I'm still looking for the ideal wax.
Sent: At first it is very potent when applied. Within 5 minutes it tones down and is very nice. smell last for more than a few hours. Its not over powering and the misses says it is nice a mild but reminds her of a lumber yard.
Hold: Decent hold. I have used clubman mustache wax primary at this point. Hold is comparable but still less. over all holds well.
Apply-ability: at my couple of attempts of applying the wax, i struggled. it was very clumpy and did not want to spread over the stash very well if at all. mostly just got clumped up in one or 2 spots. I tried warming/rubbing it between my fingers like suggested and yet still had trouble. The case does not allow for it to be microwaved so i put it on the stove. This proved to be very effective and i was able to spread a very even amount across the stash. I gave it a 4 just because of the time and effort to apply the wax effectively.
Have been using this wax for about two years now. I have occasionally bought other wax brands to try out, but always find my way back to The Bearded Bastard. Both sides of my stache tend to like to do their own thing when I'm styling it, but this wax easily gets both under control and allows me to style as I desire. As a barber too, I'm always recommending to my clients and people I see growing a stache!
Great stache wax. I’ve tried several brands, after having grown a full beard and mustache for almost four years, and this is by far the best product. Other reviewers may complain wax has little duration on their mustaches. To fix this just apply a little more wax, and spread across the mustache using a little comb. In doing so, it works like magic. The other great feature is the light but fresh pine smell, and the softness to warm between your index fingers for am easy apply.
