Wahl Professional Peanut Cordless Clipper/Trimmer #8663, White - Great On-the-Go Trimmer for Barbers and Stylists - Powerful Rotary Motor

Wahl Professional Peanut Cordless Clipper/Trimmer #8663, White - Great On-the-Go Trimmer for Barbers and Stylists - Powerful Rotary Motor

Way better than the corded version. The cord is a big mess. Cordless is well worth it in my opinion. Yes, there are limitations. It does not work well on super long hair. I use it to buzz my hair and trim my beard. Make sure you use fresh batteries, lube the blades every time, cut on clean hair, and cut on dry hair. You should be fine if you use all of these methods.

Also, the batteries need to be "seasoned." The manual says they need to be used and recharged several times before they are at their best.

Simply the best cordless trimmer I have ever had or seen and I tried and was disappointed by many of the other cordless offerings, even Whal's non-pro models suck. I kept using my corded Peanut for 8+ years because all the cordless trimmers were crap, that is until this one. It is nearly as powerful as my corded Peanut with fully charged batteries. I know that if you buy low discharge (pre-charged / hybrid) rechargeables such as these: AmazonBasics AA Rechargeable Batteries (4-Pack) Pre-charged/ which also have a higher capacity than the 2 included batteries you'll get some more power and a lot more time. Also, with one fully charged battery in the clipper and one or 2 fully charged as spares you'll have plenty of power for the biggest jobs on the longest trips and you can leave the big charger at home.

About the included charger, it is much bigger than it needs to be and the door is clunky but, it is a fair quality, intelligent, charger. Most cheap chargers require 2 batteries to be charged at the same time but this one has better electronics and will charge 1 battery at a time. Despite the size, this proves it is not the cheapest charger. Buy the low discharge batteries, no need for the extra high 2800mAh capacity ones, the batteries I linked above are perfect for this clipper. (The high capacity would mostly be wasted due to complicated math and the way they discharge, read reviews of the Amazon Basics high capacity AAs for more details or just take my word on it and get the ones I linked above.) You can then leave the big, clunky charger that comes with this at home.

It is not a bad charger as I said above but, as I'm moving to all rechargeables and standardizing all battery operated stuff on AA size, I will be getting a better charger that is smaller and lets you control charging rate, test battery capacity and discharge / refresh batteries.

So, long story short, about the clipper itself, If you liked the corded Peanut you will absolutely love this one, especially with some better batteries!

I have a thick beard. I have been using Wahl products since I was in high school and none of the general consumer products or Wahl Home Care seemed to work with any long-lasting success (2-3 years). This cordless is the best trimmer I have ever had. Some reviews complain about battery life and all I have to say about that, DON'T LEAVE YOUR BATTERY IN YOUR TRIMMER WHEN NOT IN USE. Get a pack of rechargeable AAs from the grocery and quit whining. Other reviews complain that it's not as consistent or reliable as the corded cousin...anyone who knows about current would be able to affirm that you should have just gotten a corded one in the first place. Otherwise, my only care suggestion, buy a second blade head. Not saying I am having a problem with it's ability to "mow" my face into respectable lines, just saying, it might be a good idea.

Finally, if you're using this for anything besides maintaining a short beard or a bald head, get something more robust. If you cut hair at home, get something like this.Wahl Professional 5-Star Magic Clip #8451 - Great for Barbers and Stylists - Precision Fade Clipper with Zero Overlap Adjustable Blades, V9000 Cool-Running Motor, Variable Taper and Texture Settings

We were looking for a good clipper to cut our Yorkie's hair and I saw the Peanut recommended on a Yorkie forum. I went with the cordless because with our existing clipper the cord was annoying to deal with. It runs off of a single AA NiMH battery and comes with a charger and some batteries though I've been using Eneloops with the PowerEx MH-C9000 charger so I basically discarded the included charger and batteries. My only complaint is that it is weaker than the corded clipper we had, though that basically means we need to cut at a slower speed to prevent it slowing down on thicker patches of hair and pulling. However, that doesn't lower my feelings or rating of this clipper and this is actually the second one we've purchased so my wife and I can both shave our Yorkies at the same time.

Purchased the wireless version AND the wired version. Comparing the two, the WIRED version is more powerful, however the CORDLESS version is still an excellent trimmer. I travel a lot for work so this little guy definitely helps me clean up when I need a quick trim. It does come with two (2) batteries and the charger which hold a significant amount of charge. It is recommended that you remove the battery from the device after every use in order to preserve the batteries.

Overall GREAT trimmer and would recommend it to anyone looking for a "Barber Style" trimmer.

I wear my hair fairly short #4 comb length on a pair of clippers. I live in a place where barber shops are inexpensive but filthy. Combs and brushes, towels and scissors are never cleaned, and razors are not sterilized. I love being able to cut my own hair. I pop on the number 4 comb and run the Wahl Peanut over my head every 3rd day or so. My hair is always a consistent happy length. The Peanut is very light-weight plastic -- but seems to be well constructed. Being able to pop in any AA battery to operate is a real plus. Being cordless, it makes cutting my own hair a breeze.

I bought this to see if it would come close to the Wahl Balding Clippers my barber uses, only wirelessly. I am satisfied with the results, although it is not quite as close. (It is closer than the Hatteker at its closest 0.5mm setting.)
I also travel regularly and it is very convenient to pack, without taking up much space.
I have used it several times so far and do not experience the battery trouble others have reviewed. I do get a little obsessive about the extra passes over the same areas and have not experienced any loss of power in the middle of a cut, so far.
The only use I have for the attachments is for my eyebrows. No worries for such a small task.

This is awesome! Great to be able to trim my beard anywhere, anytime without any cables to get in the way. Plenty of power from one battery, and you get two so one is always fully charged and ready to take over. But looks like one will last for several trims anyway!

I use this to cut my own hair at home and this little guy is so easy to maneuver. My only gripe is that it seems to be very voltage dependent: if you put in a new alkaline battery (non-rechargeable), then this buzzer hums. You can really hear how fast it goes. Once you use it for a while, it doesn't buzz as fast. For this reason, I use a new battery every time. But don't throw out the "used" one! it still has plenty of juice in it! Plenty! Just don't use it on this clipper.

It seems wasteful, but I don't use any rechargeable batteries on this. Rechargeable NiMH batteries are usually at 1.2V and stay there until it's out of juice. Alkaline batteries start around 1.5V and drop gradually. The "lower" speeds of NiMH and used alkaline battery may be okay for shorter hair and detailing, but it doesn't work well when hair is longer. It will choke, but even corded clippers choke with longer hair.

My hair stylist uses one and I liked it. So, found it on Amazon and have used it for about 6 months or so. The blade is still sharp. No tugging when I mow through a tough gray beard!! Battery life has been outstanding. Works well in both my left and right hands. The blade guard works well when shaving other sensitive areas. No nicks or cuts! Happy with this.

Wish it were waterproof. Maybe they make one that is. If not, I’d still buy this one.
