**Update**
I recently decided to try this again and I was pleased to see the quality has gotten a lot better! Maybe before I had ordered from a bad batch. But this one doesn’t have any weird smell, feels like and good like other argan oils. And their customer service is pretty good as well, so would definitely recommend.***
(Old review) I've used a few different brands of argan oil, and none of them had a smell like this one does. I know sometimes argan oil can have a nutty type of smell, but this was just bad. My 2 month old has had really dry skin because of rashes, and argan oil is the only thing that works to keep his skin healthy and soft. I decided to give this brand a try based on the other reviews. As soon as I opened the new bottle a strong, unpleasant smell hit me. I tried a little bit on myself and it felt okay. I went ahead and put some on my baby and his skin smelled like a mixture of strong chemicals and cheap cologne. It was so bad I had to bathe him right away to get this stuff off. Definitely not real argan oil.
I was using proactive religiously twice a day for YEARS and suddenly I was getting horrible cystic acne on my chin almost weekly. One wouldn't even die down and I would get another on top of it. I did some research and realized I was stripping my skin too much. I order this jojoba oil and an organic cold-pressed aloe vera, would add one to two drops of jojoba oil to some aloe vera in my hand and rub it on my dry parts of my face I have not had cystic acne since and it's been around 6 months. My skin is suddenly glowing. A little goes a loong way.
Update: What a surprising customer service experience! I responded to the comment from Viva Naturals Customer Care on this post. They returned my money. I thought that my journey with their argan oil ended there, but then Viva Naturals Customer Care contacted me! They told me that they'd changed their filtering methods and asked if I would like to give them another try. They sent me a bottle from their Amazon stock, and wow! I'm so glad that they made that offer! This argan oil is perfect! The smell doesn't linger for long and it's such a subtle smell. What a difference! I'm so very happy with the oil and the service. I plan to buy another bottle right now, and I'm going to look at the rest of their product line!
First review: I've tried other pure argan oil brands, but the price of this product tempted. I'm so disappointed.
This oil smells horrible. This smell is not the rubber band smell I've experienced from other brands, but rather of excrement. I would return it if we'd opened it sooner, but sadly, the return window has closed. I cannot recommend it.
This stuff is magical, although such a statement doesn't really provide any information about its efficacy.
For the hair, it is transformative. After shampooing my hair, and not conditioning it, I applied three drops on very wet hair and massaged my scalp. My hair is bleached and is all over the place. This stuff worked the first day for the hair: my hair was subtlety glossy, NOT SHINY. It stayed in paced but felt like there was no product in my hair. This serves as an amazing hair "product" for styling it.
For the skin, this is a great moisturizer. On a damp face, I massage in JUST two drops of Jojoba Oil. I don't use any other moisturizer afterwards, but my skin is beautiful all day long. Plus, works great under sunscreen!
This also works great for Retin-A users. Mix two drops in with your prescription Retina-A and say goodbye to dry patches!
I use this as a daily moisturizer on a regular basis when I don't plan on wearing make-up throughout the day. It gives a healthy natural looking glow to the skin. Please note, this does not work under make-up nor is it intended to be a used under make-up; the make-up will slide right off.
Jojoba oil is not really an oil, it's actually a wax that closely mimics the skin's natural sebum, but in a nicer way. The surreal glow you get from it looks very natural and not greasy.
I used to order my jojoba from another supplier, but one day it came with a rancid smell. It was probably sitting on the shelf for ages; they sent a replacement, but it also smelled!
The ones I received from Viva smells nutty and normal thus far; it may be an odd smell for some, but it's definitely not foul. It's a delicate oil with no parabens or preservatives, so keep your jojoba oil in a dark cool place to maintain it's integrity.
Love this oil. There's just no comparison between this and mainstream moisturizers in drug stores that consist vastly of useless fillers. Will order again.

What does it smell like?
Our Organic Argan Oil is cold-pressed and never heated above 42 degrees Celsius, which means it arrives unrefined with all its natural goodness intact. While the oil is naturally deodorized as it's processed, it still emits a light, earthy scent. Any scent will absorb and dissipate quickly within a few moments. Want to add your own natural fragrance blend? Try adding a drop or two of your favorite essential oil!
Is this Argan Oil the real deal?
Yes! Our Organic Argan Oil is 100% USDA Organic, virgin, hexane-free and sustainably harvested in Morocco, and third-party tested for purity. Some oils are refined using heat and chemicals. Ours is gently cold-pressed and never heated past 42 degrees Celsius, which keeps all of Argan's naturally-occurring Vitamin E, tocopherols, unsaturated fatty acids and antioxidants intact-the way it's meant to be.

Love this stuff. I'd been using another 'dry oil serum' from Merle Norman, it was ok, till I ran out & decided to try something else. This is very moisturizing, not oily feeling at all. I will purchase it again
I love Argan oil to use for moisturizing skin and hair. I was previously using another brand, but it was a smaller size and more expensive. I saw this brand, bigger size, and cheaper so decided to try it out. I'm glad I did because it is great! The argan oil arrives in a little white box with the bottle and an optional eye dropper. The bottle of argan oil has a plastic seal around the top, so you know you are receiving a new, unopened, bottle and not something another person may have tried, disliked, and returned. The argan oil is just as good as the other brand I was using. Smells the same, looks the same, works the same. I like to use this after showering on my face to help moisturize my skin. I sometimes get really dry skin on my face, patches that are flaky and gross, especially in winter months. The argan oil hydrates and moisturizes so well, this is no longer an issue for me, and it's a miracle! I also use it in my hair instead of commercial products like gel, mousse, creams, etc... After a shower I will comb my hair, pat dry, and add a quarter-sized drop of argan oil into my palms. I rub my hands together and apply the argan oil to my hair, nothing else, and let it air dry. I have thin, fine, curly hair, and live in Florida. This argan oil keeps my hair looking shiny, healthy, and FRIZZ-FREE! I used to buy products claiming to protect against humidity, and non of them lived up to their claims. Argan oil is the only thing that is not only organic, all natural, but gets the job done. I could go on and on about the wonderful uses of argan oil, but this review is long enough. I would definitely recommend this brand to anybody looking for argan oil at a great price. If you have any questions please comment and I will do my best to provide an answer. [...].
This oil and brand is AMAZING! I use this oil in my cleanser, with my mousturizer and under my makeup and IT IS CLEARING UP MY ACNE LIKE NOTHING ELSE. Since two years ago I've tried so, so many products and none have helped my acne like this product. It's cost friendly and super effective. I completely reccomend this oil & brand because it works so well for me and it's so affordable that there's no reason why you shouldn't try it! Viva Naturals even sent me a letter in the mail a while after my first purchase telling me that I would recieve a free bottle! I love this oil and the brand is obviously very nice. The photos I included are of my clear skin, the only spots I have since using this oil are hyperpigmentation spots from previous breakouts only! The last picture is of what my makeup looks like wearing the jojoba oil underneath as a primer. xo - Alanis
I would happily take time to rate this amazing oil that have help my face and back acne for the past year.I have suffer with cystic acne for the past 6 years ,using jojoba oil solely for acne does not work for me,however combining 20 drop of Jojoba oil along with 1 drop of natural 100 percent tea tree oil have greatly reduce my acne overall.Jojoba oil helps to moisturize my face while tea tree oil helps with inflame cystic acne. Acne is very difficult to control ,take advice from a person that have taken minocycline, deoxycyline, solodyn, teracycline and the list goes on.I have even taken accutane (the last resort ),dont get me wrong accutane is a miracle drug that helps, but after your treatment has ended ,your acne still returns to haunt your life.Jojoba oil greatly help to reduce the oil from your skin and it also soften your hair follicle ,which greatly help to reduce acne.I would also recommend taking something from the inside to control acne as well , I usually takes a hormonal pill to prevent acne as well.vitamin A retinoid and D3 are great vitamins that are great alternative but be careful of the dosage compensation.Jojoba oil is also great for the hair too.:-)
Good luck
I used Josie Maran Argan Oil as a nightly facial moisturizer for a while and it was effective in keeping my skin well-hydrated. I looked into the product, turns out it's 100% Argan Oil, so I chose to give another brand a chance to save money. Viva has been just as effective and I've enjoyed using it for about a month now! I apply one pump almost every night after cleansing my face. The product doesn't have a strong scent, if at all. It keeps my skin moisturized through the night and I have not broken out or had any adverse effects at all. My overall skin condition has improved significantly, I'm a huge fan! More people should research using all natural oils for skincare, it's a hidden treasure.
