I have been trying many shave creams. I like this one for the aroma, texture, and smooth shave. They all work well if you give them some time to soften your face after application. I add a little water while applying and give it some time to work. Remember, Dick Bionde taught us how to shave on WLS radio in the 50s out of Chicago, I think. He said smooth on the shave cream and then do something else for awhile before taking the razor to your face. That was good advice. Every one I have tried works if it is given some rest time. I do like this one very very much. The scent is the best sandalwood so far, and the can is a giant plus. The top of the can is gnarled. Smooth tops are hard to open with wet hands. It does look a little like a stash can, but maybe that's why it's Rocky Mountain. Of all the shave creams I have tried, I will go back to this one FOR SURE.
This stuff is great!!! Smells amazing!! Softer face after using. I’ve shaved 3 time and only used the remains on the lid,using my finger to take some off and work it in my palm. Better than any shaving cream I’ve ever used !!!It may last me a year. I only use a little, I shave only 30% of my face but these guys know how to make quality products. Love there beard balm. Great job!!!
This is one of those personal products (shaving stuff for men) that I can just never find product I'm happy with: it's either made of crappy stuff because it's for dudes so who cares, or it's pretending to be fancy and nice dude-stuff, that's really just generic, well-packaged-and-scented mediocre product.
This stuff, though, combined with their pre-shave oil, makes for (and I type this in all-caps on purpose, to really emphasize its importance coming from a middle-aged, hirsute male) the BEST SHAVING EXPERIENCES I'VE EVER HAD. So easy to actually shave, and closely, and my skin feels great and smells fantastic, too.
In case you're hesitating as I was: this is worth the price, it's great stuff.
I was using a different sandalwood shaving cream for a couple of years, that actually cost one dollar more than this stuff. This cream last me much longer and I love the added menthol. It smells great, provides a great cream, which provides a great shave.
To those who cannot find the right mixture, you either need to go back to the canned creams, or spend a minute or two finding the right mixture of water and cream here. Start with a small amount of water. If it's too thick, add a little water...if it's still too thick, repeat. It's a simple thing called "trial and error".
I've used the soap several times now and am quite impressed and happy. The soap lathered up nicely (use a Badger hair brush) and the lather came up quickly and evenly. Just a little bit creates a good lather with enough left for a second pass if needed.
The soap gives a nice shave and leaves my skin feeling refreshed and not dry.
One other thing I like about it, I don't care for strong scents and the sandalwood is not over powering but is subtle.
I would definitely recommend this product and will be buying more when I run out. Thank you

Very nice smell, not overpowering, just makes for a nice, pleasant shave. It tends to stay on fairly well, meaning I am not constantly having to reapply with my shave brush. When you have as much hair as I have (in all the wrong places), that means a nicer shaving experience. This is a good shaving cream at a good price. I feel just as good about this as I do my Proraso shave cream in a tube, and really, I just wanted to switch up this month, and I am glad I tried this Rocky Mountain Barber Sandalwood shave cream.
Do yourself a favor... use this shaving cream with a safety razor or straight razor. It just goes together! Happy shaving!
Must admit, this product was a bit different--more flowable--than I anticipated based on other shave creams and soaps in tins or tubs that I have used over the years. That said, this product smells great, not too weak or too strong. It lathers nicely and enables my safety razor to glide smoothly across my face. It yields a nice close shave; no nicks so far; great product!
This cream is so awesome but I did not realize how awesome it was until I used a shaving cream in a can one day because I was in a hurry. I could not shave off very well with the shaving cream in a can. I had to wash and reapply this cream and got a smooth shave again. It smells good but the smell is gentle and not overwhelming. I highly recommend it.
Love the smoothness. Goes on easy -- just a tiny bit will lather up nicely. If you're a slow shaver, it may dry a bit on the parts of your face that you reach last. No worries, just splash a little water right on top with your non-shaving hand, and it's all smooth again. And I LOVE the packaging. Thanks for having the foresight and courage to NOT use plastic. The metal can and wide lid are excellent. They work great, look great, and they're WAY better for the environment. (Mountain Men love the environment.)
I shave everyday I have tried all kinds of shaving cream this is one of the best. I have high dollar brushes and cheap brushes it works great with all of them. It leaves your skin soft and love the smell some times I hate to put on after shave. This can should last a year because it takes very little on the tip of your brush to make a thick lather. Will buy again!
