Pure Enrichment TRYM II Rechargeable Hair Trimmer Kit with 4 Trimming Attachments, Charging Base, Cleaning Brush and Clipper Oil - Ideal for Safe, At-Home Grooming of Hair, Body, Mustache and Beard

This is a splendid clipper with only a few quirks that prevent it from being perfect.

I bought this to take over the jobs of an Andis clipper (which got lost somewhere while packing) and a Phillips all-in-one hair/grooming trimmer that I also had. I used both of those somewhat interchangeably but the performance of the Phillips was lackluster when it came to trimming my hair in a consistent manner--and the Andis were bulky and had a big cord dangling around all the time. Both weren't really getting the job done. This clipper was mentioned on various websites and was one of the top searches when it came to clippers on Amazon so I decided to give it a look. Plenty of reviews were positive and so I went ahead with the purchase. Boy did this thing not disappoint. It cut through my facial hair like butter, which is more than I could say about the Phillips it replaced. The old clipper would take multiple runs with the blade to even hope to get every hair down to a uniform level. This eliminates that problem entirely, and brings all of the hairs to the desired level with ease. Included are also various sized guards, which is definitely a nice touch and I'm grateful that it's included rather than me having to go online to find dubious third party alternatives (I got some for the Andis once, and they didn't even fit right).

It's light and easy to hold in the hold. The base can be plugged in and kept wherever you want to store the clipper, and all you have to do is plop it down into the base for it to start charging. I didn't enjoy the red light that comes flashing out of the clipper when it's charging, and it would be noticeable when the room lights are turned off. Easy fix would be to keep this in the bathroom instead of your bedroom.

I'm also disappointed that it isn't water resistant, especially given that it is a wireless clipper and has the ease to go wherever you'd like it to--except the shower. It's not the biggest deal in the world by any stretch, and they do include a brush for cleaning without water, but the ease of being able to run them through the faucet (like the Phillips) and have all the hair wash away, is gone now. Not quite too happy about that bit. The brush itself can be used to (somewhat) get hairs out of those tight crevices in between the machinery. It does a good job of that.

I'm not certain of the battery life quality--it doesn't take long to trim down hairs with this at all, and you plop it into the base right after, so it's never died on me or anything. I can't really see anybody needing to use this long enough in one go for the battery life to be an issue.

Needless to say this clipper (along with a Phillips OneBlade for when a closer "shave" rather than "trim" is needed) has become the go-to machinery for my facial hair needs. They have yet to let me down and if anything were the case I'm sure TRYMM's excellent customer service (or so the other reviews here have told me) would be able to sort that out in a jiffy.

SUMMARY:
+ Aesthetically Pleasing
+ Extremely Budget Friendly
+ Wireless
+ Powerful
-- Not Water Resistant

UPDATE 1-22-16

I have raised the star count from 2 to 4. I read another review about the "fantastic customer service" behind this product so I wrote them and linked to this review. Within 2 days I had a brand new razor in hand, and it works better than I recall the first one working even. I mention below that the product was great in the beginning, and this is soooo true! It does work great indeed.

I was shocked they offered the replacement, and they offered, I did not request it. They even called me to make sure I got it and was happy.

I will say that the new unit runs at LEAST 50% stronger. The battery in the old unit really did die out - having the old one and a new one in each hand, while on, is a shocking thing! I can't believe how much better the new one works.

I appreciated the new unit. I bought the first one in Nov. 2014 and the new one was sent out just last week (over a year, it is now 1-22-16). Not sure if the warranty is that long, or they stand behind their products that much, but I am happy again to have a working unit.

Original review below for reference:

I was soooo excited to get this shaver, IDK, about a year ago now (or so). I had tried every brand out there and this "seemed like I finally found THE ONE" after years of utter disappointment with other shavers. I am still looking.

OK, I will get my mistake out of the way: As I recall the instructions said not to leave the shaver on the charger. I am a 40 year old male with limited space in my bathroom (and lazy too, from the sounds of it) and my routine is: I just use the shaver, clean it, oil it, and throw it back on the charger. I mean, I feel that is kinda what the majority of us would do, and the battery seems FAR weaker than when new and I reckon this is the cause (and maybe a cheap battery?). An estimator by trade, I would venture to guess it runs at about 60% what it once did (for speed and power) and the life is about 1/2 what it was (actual time of use). I have used this approx. once per 1.5 weeks or so, not a lot indeed.

And, more disturbing, there is something rattling around inside the actual shaving unit itself (in the handle). I sure don't recall ever dropping the unit but I do recall the rattling in there since new. Who knows what is in there, rattling around. It doesn't appear to harm the function of the device, but it sure sounds cheap and isn't what you expect from a new product.

I find myself shopping on Amazon, again, looking for another to replace this unit. I need more versatility in cutting length and honestly I am tired of the low power of the unit, the short life and that darned rattle. Time to research, research, research yet again!

This is probably the best trimmer I have ever found. It charges well and holds the charge long enough to take on a trip. What I especially like are the various plastic "head" accessories because they allow me to easily select a trimmer head that leaves my beard at the length I want. Also, without the plastic head I can easily trim the whiskers around my mouth / lips. The only "problem" I had was learning how to remove and reinstall the metal trimming head--the part that holds the blades. The instructions are terrible and the customer support from the company isn't that good, either. Eventually (and quite accidentally) I removed the metal head at the same time as I was removing the plastic head and from that I figured how to take the unit apart for cleaning. I would recommend this trimmer.

In the past, I purchased (4) of these TRYM II Rechargeable Hair Clippers - for some reason this product did not last very long. I would like to take this (belated) opportunity to thank Pure Enrichment for shipping me a FREE TRYM II Clipper which is several months in use and still performing very well. Very nice and Credible of Pure Enrichment to Gift me with another one of their clippers. I love this TRYM II - not noisy and well-designed.

As a mostly bald, heavily bearded man, I use an electric razor quite frequently (at least when I care about my appearance) and I prioritize time of use and ease of shave above other concerns. The TRYM II has been an exceptional purchase that I've used regularly over the past two months to my complete satisfaction. The electric clipper is well built, sturdy and heavier than most I've used in the past. While the body casing is plastic, the weight of the clipper is substantial and the head is one metal piece like a traditional set of electric clippers used by barbers. It fits into the base to charge and looks altogether sleek and modern.

Unlike other trimmers/clippers I've used, the TRYM cuts my hair close enough that I don't have to completely shave (either with my electric razor or a traditional razor blade) unless I really want that degree of closeness/smoothness. It cuts through my relatively thick, coarse beard and head hair with ease and the hair doesn't clump on the blade. It seems to charge fairly quickly and hold a charge for days.

The only improvement I would like to see in a later model would be a better indication of the charge,, since the red light that comes on the side of the clipper when charging does not turn off (so I can't be sure if the clipper is fully charged or how much charge may be left at any given time).

I've been through several beard trimmers cheap and expensive ones. It was time for a new one so I started looking here on amazon, I didn't want the cheapest or most expensive, just something that was not to much money that did the job well. So after reading reviews and descriptions on more then a dozen trimmers I decided to go with this one. As it had very good reviews, a pretty good price, and just plain ole looked good. Upon receiving the trimmer I was pretty happy with the build quality It doesn't feel cheap at all. After using it I can honestly say it works better then any other trimmer I've previously owned. Trimmed up my beard pretty fast, no snags or pulls from the blade, cuts off all the hair you want in just a few passes. Now noise level isn't something I concern myself with on these types of products, but if its something that concerns you. You'll be happy to know that the trimmer is whisper quiet. I couldn't be happier with the purchase trimmer feels works and looks like a top quality product for a very good price.

I've been buzzing my head weekly for over 15 years with the Norelco beard trimmer (integrated vacuum system model). I stumbled across the TRYM II in the process of shopping around for a different trimmer since my current Norelco fell apart on me. After reading over the reviews and making sure it had the exact features I needed in a trimmer (cordless/rechargeable and close cut), I decided to give it a chance.

The main reason I stuck to the Norelco vacuum model for so many years is because I couldn't find anything that SAFELY cuts as close as it does (1mm). I don't use guides since I keep my hair as close to bare skin as I can, and the Norelco was the closest cutting cordless unit I could find for under $50. Well Norelco kept changing up their design over the years with "upgrades" as they like to call it, but the quality and durability of these units kept consistently going down with each new model they released. Also, with so many extra and unnecessary moving parts or "features" as they put it, a lot more just went wrong over time with the 6 units I have owned.

Now the TRYM II cuts (with no guides) a little closer than the Norelco (just under 1mm), which is a HUGE plus for me. The charging station is a really nice touch, especially considering the price range of this trimmer. I can't really speak for the guides since I don't use them, but I did attach a couple just to check for fit and they securely latched on as they should. The blade unit is easy to manipulate on and off for cleaning and the entire unit cleans up quickly and easily with no unnecessary nooks and crannies for excess hair to collect.

My only initial issue was the steel guide that the blades rest up against is pretty sharp, which caused some discomfort when I first used it, but it's nothing a little adjustment to my technique couldn't take care of. It does sometimes requires multiple passes, but it's not a huge deal since the blade isn't that wide (about 1.25"). I also tend to ride the trimmer across my head really fast ala boot-camp style so that's most likely to blame, but I'm talking about just couple strands of hair every now and then, not entire patches.

Although I have only used the TRYM II twice to date, I'm pretty impressed and pleased by the outcome so far. I love the simple, no frills design that includes everything I need and nothing I don't. Unlike the Norelcos I have used over the years, it has no built in guides, vacuums, trap doors, extra springs or any other unnecessary "features" that would break over time and render the entire unit useless. I can't really speak for durability since I have only used it a couple times, but I'll post updates in the near future.

Have been using this for a while now. This is probably the best beard trimmer I have owned thus far. I have been through quite a number of them. The lengths are great for all trimming needs. It cuts clean, cleans easily, and it gets close without getting nicked on the skin. It definitely isn't as close as a razor but it takes it right down to some 4 o'clock shadow looking stubble for you and honestly for keeping the ol' neckbeard at bay this thing is perfect. It charges fast, holds a charge, and it just feel right in the hand. You can tell it is quality when you hold it and use it. The price is more than right for this!

I've seen complaints about how much stubble is left after a "shave" with this thing - well it isn't a shaver - it is a TRIMMER - If you want a super close shave you shouldn't be looking at a trimmer you should be looking at a razor! Come on people!

As an added bonus this thing just looks nice! Modern and sleek. Never thought I would be so happy with a trimmer.

Previously, I wrote a 1 star review on this clipper because although I loved it, after using it 2 times, it just quit working. I had it only 6 weeks and Amazon wouldn't replace it as it was beyond the 30 day return date. I just posted a one star review that said I liked the clipper but it should have lasted a lot longer.
A few days later I received an email from the company that distributes it (Pure Enrichment) and they simply said to send them my address and they would send me a new one. Great customer service. I didn't even have to contact the company and spend the money on a return. After the fact, I saw that it had a 2 year warranty. I received it today and I'm thrilled. I can't wait to use the clipper again. Thanks Pure Enrichment!

This is a far better product for the money than I expected
Pros:
- Obviously, it is a very slick looking device. Always a bonus.
- Much quieter than most trimmers.
- Battery lasts for *weeks* depending on use
- Flat does the job. There is no weakness here. Good charge on the battery - it's not bogging down even on the thick stuff.
- Build quality is excellent. Solid, hefty, comfortable to use, and surprisingly easy to keep clean. I thought the high gloss appearance would be a fingerprint magnet / difficult to clean. Nope. Quick wipe and it gleams.
Cons:
- The small stand combined with the solid build and weight of the device makes it a little bit easy to tip over. Keep it out of the way.
- Although I've not tested it of course, it would appear there is no overcharge protection?
-- It states right in the manual to charge it overnight and unplug it so as not to overcharge the device. Kind of odd to have a charging stand you can't leave plugged in, but not a big deal really since it lasts so long. Just odd more than a con.
