The balm arrived few days earlier than expected which is great!!! I applied it on dry hair and was happier than I expected I have curly frizzy hair and have tried many different products this balm did smooth and tame my hair. Definitely a product to buy you won't be disappointed.
I am an AA woman with naturally curly type 4 hair. I actually didn’t use this product as a straightening balm. I used it more so form a moisturizing agent for my hair. It kinda put me in the mind of coconut oil, so I used it in the same manner that I use coconut oil on my hair (for everything, conditioning treatments, twist outs, daily moisturizing product, you name it) It was very smoothing and soothing to my hair. It is the consistency of refined coconut oil, so very easily to apply. When I used this as a deep conditioning pre poo and conditioner I noticed that shampoo didn’t dry my hair out as much so it would definitely last thru all the blow drying and flat ironing. I have curly hair and needed something to help me be able to wear my hair straight. I wanted something that wouldn't do too much damage to my hair.
There are two ways to use this balm. The first way is to apply it to wet hair for 5 to 10 minutes. The second way to use it is to apply it to dry hair for thirty minutes up to an hour. I tried both ways. The first way, applying it to wet hair, was easier to apply. The end results were softer hair but it didn't help much with frizziness nor with making my hair straighter. The second way, applying to dry hair, made my hair shinier and healthier looking. It also made it soft. It didn't make it greasy either which is awesome because looking at the product in the jar, I swore it would. I still had to flat iron my hair to get it straight but it does look healthier. I will definitely use it again just to get the soft, shiny hair it provides.
