This Cleansing Beard & Face Wash is part of Nivea’s new DEEP line. I have used a Nivea product every morning for 10 years, the Energy Revitalizing Lotion. It’s excellent and not greasy. I’m told I look a decade younger than my actual age, so I’m very loyal to that skin conditioner. Thus, I very much anticipated this new Nivea men’s line.
For this review, I’m going to discuss both the Cleansing Beard & Face Wash, and the Comfort Post Shave Lotion since they are meant to be a one-two punch for your daily skin care routine.
Cleansing Beard & Face Wash:
This product contains trendy charcoal so it’s darkish in color. It’s thick and rich, does not lather profusely and I don’t think it’s likely intended to. It was enjoyable to use. Because it took several splashes to wash off at the sink, I think I’ll get the most use out of it in the shower where a blast of water will wash it off easily.
Comfort Post Shave Lotion: This is really a clear alcohol-based after shave than a lotion. It’s very refreshing and dries instantly. It would also make a great, lively face pick me up at any time of day. I like it--yet do not think of this as a lotion. It does include castor oil to provide some conditioning benefit. The word lotion makes me think more of a creamy, viscous conditioner, which would be my personal final step to then “face” the world.
This new DEEP line also includes a body wash and shave gel, too.
The scent is very refreshing for both of these products and I think Nivea nailed it. It’s what I would describe as a “fresh” scent, maybe the smallest hint of menthol but not enough to overpower. Nivea describes as vanilla and bourbon but I’m not quite sensing that yet. It smells good while using, and afterwards, too.
I’m not giving up my terrific moisturizing Energy Revitalizing Lotion but think these quality products are worth trying, too.
doesn't remove to much oil and dry out my skin. after washing my face and beard feel hydrated and soft. it smell like good cologne mixed with a fresh smell and its light and refreshing. I love the smell so much . I have very dry skin and a very dry flaky beard and using this soap has helped me to maintain some moisture in my skin. I have been using it twice a day for just three days and I have noticed a difference in my skin I will give it more time and see how well my skin does. I still struggle with extreme dryness but this soap has your face feeling different after one use.
I just put some on my hands wet my face and lather up from my bald scalp to my beard. the skin in my eye brows and beard feel rejuvenated. and my beard usually itches all the time and I feel like I haven't been scatrching as much . so over all loving this I feel like I don't even need to moisturize after I wash my face , I still do but that's how good this soap feel.
I will say if you have oily skin this may not be the soap for you it doesn't remove natural oils it seems to keep your oils and just cleanses your skin keeping it dewy and soft. not what oily skin ppl want.
This is a nice smelling gel you lather up and wash your face at a sink or in the shower. I prefer to use it in the shower and get a nice lather going all over my face. The scent and feel of the gel is a lot like shaving gel and you could probably use it for shaving if it's all you had. As a cleaner, it works well and leaves a fresh feeling. I have oily skin and I need to use a cleaner like this, or some sort of astringent or my face breaks out, even though I'm well past adolescence. I do prefer this gel over a liquid astringent because it's easier to lather up in my hands and work into my face when taking a shower.
After about a week of using this, I'm really loving this product. I use it daily and will continue to use it once these tubes run out. I love discovering new products like this, it's absolutely perfect for my oily skin and my face is looking and feeling great. I am not sure how this would work for people with dryer skin, but it's not a very harsh product and it does add moisturizers so it should work well for any skin type.
The NIVEA Men's DEEP Cleansing Beard and Face Wash goes on your skin and gives you that wow wake me up feeling. It is thicker than normal soap, charcoal in color and has a bit of a scent to it. As you wash your face with it, it does not produce an abundance of lather but it cleanses and wakes me up. You need to rinse a few times to get it off. After it leaves sort of a skin bracer feel on my face. I like the product a lot for washing in the mornings before running out the door. My sons like it too.
I like the product a lot, however I took off 1 Star for the price. The current product page shows a price of $15.02 for a pack of 3 tubes. In my opinion, that seems a bit pricey for the average consumer. Your opinion may be different from mine. It is a great product from a great company - NIVEA. Thanks! ✌😉👍
I imagine some guys would see the label for this and say, "Charcoal? Really?" But believe me -- this stuff works.
All you need is a little dime-sized amount of this, mixed with some warm water, to make your feel feel fresher instantly. I've been using it in the morning, before shaving, to soften my (tough) beard. Makes it softer and easier to shave.
I've also used it at night, right before bedtime, to get my face feeling relaxed and clean before turning in. Works great for that purpose.
Scent is very nice without being overwhelming. I've used Nivea products for years and will continue to use this one.

I love this face wash. The smell reminds me of Nivea products I used years ago. I use this before I shave each day. I know it can be used with beards as well but I generally don't go more than 2 days without shaving. It lathers nicely, washes off cleanly and leaves my face ready for a shave. it has become my go to over my usual Cetaphil face wash. No idea if the charcoal is really doing anything but this face wash does work great.
This face wash is thicker than my usual gel washes, but it left my skin feeling clean and hydrated. The scent is quite strong, making the product geared towards men. It works well as skincare.
A manly face wash that also cleans my beard? I'm in. It looks and smells manly, leaves my face and beard feeling clean. What more can I ask? It's my new favorite face wash.
It cleans very well, not as good for sensitive skin as the other nivea wash.
It would be good for facial hair and a strong complexion.
The smell is nice
Not much of a scent. Doesn’t really lather up. It doesn’t dry my skin out either. Overall a good men’s beard and face wash
