I have used lots of different hair products and this stuff ranks right up there with the best.
-SCENT.... very pleasant, not at all over powering, I wish it was a bit stronger (kinda like cherry)
- FEEL.... when applied to lightly damp or dry hair the stay power is strong, on wet or very damp it is tamed a bit. It doesn’t dry hard. It leaves a slight non-greasy residue at the end of the day.
- AMOUNT.... I purchased the smaller 2.5oz and it seems like it will last a month or more as it goes a long way.
I have short hair, sides tapered and finger length and messy on top for comparison.
This is the first "legit" hair product I have used really... coming from a lifetime of Crew, Axe etc... Was turned onto this stuff by The Pomp like many others who I've seen write reviews on Anchor products among other hair products.
This is easily the best Pomade/Wax I have ever used. It doesn't dry out so I carry a comb with me and just re-style when needed. It is light and not shiny at all which I like a lot. The Cherry scent... not my favorite smell ever but not bad at all. Placed an order for the Anchor Teddy Boy Original and some legit handmade combs which get here Friday to give that a shot as well and may also try Crystal Lake too. I honestly had no idea there was a "craft" hair product thing going like this but here we are I suppose. Just like with craft beers vs the macro stuff, I'm not sure how it took me so long to look into different options besides the usual dept store fare for grooming.
This pomade has become my go-to for daily use! I was curious about delving more into the world of pomades and read a lot of praise for Teddy Boy products. I usually buy Vikings, Crew, and Redkin pomades which fit the bill fine but when compared to this, they don't hit it even close. The jar is eye catching with the blue color. I like the scent a lot! It is a toss up between a cherry or almond scent. I'm really impressed with its hold. It is not as strong as a gel where it turns rock solid but not loose to the point where it looks like I didn't put product at all. It will harden up like a gel but only at the surface kinda like a shell. It does produce a light shine but it is not as pronounced as say Crew pomades. The light shine makes my hair look healthy rather than dull and dry. Styling with it was a bit difficult at first since it does not provide a super strong hold but I learned to work with it and it lasts for a majority of the day. Absolutely recommend this product and I'll be looking for others like it!
ive been trying different water based pomaded over the past few years. This has been my favorite. Has a medicinal cherry scent when you first apply it but it's gone after a few minutes. Either way I like the smell, but I can see why others may not.
Hold is good and I can style dry hair for a nice medium natural looking hold. Or I can style with wet hair for that gel look. Washes out easily always. That's the most important thing for me, I don't have to shampoo multiple times and it leaves my hair soft. Only con is that you have to use more cream than most pomades.
Other than that, I've been through rain and haven't had bad bed head the next day. I'm on my fourth container and plan to continue using it.
It definitely goes on matte and non greasy ,easy to work in it's not a stiff paste that you have to wrestle with it's very workable. I like that it's water based and was the key reason I tried the product along with it being matte finish.

This stuff is SO good that even my fiancé uses it (and I kinda hate her for that). It smooth yet holds, it's not forceful or obtrusive and applying it to hair feels natural and not at all uncomfortable. Wish it could be a little cheaper thou.
As for scent... I can't recall it as I am typing this review so it's safe to say that it isn't either bothersome or that great to be noticed.
I love this hair stuff. It has a very natural hold and it just smells so freakin' good. I look forward to using it every morning. My hair is very straight and pretty long on top. It does not like to stay in place, at all. So I use a little bit of this stuff after a quick blow dry. Then I put some more heavy duty holding stuff on with it. The mixture is great. Because I get the better hold with the heavy duty stuff I use, but I don't have to walk around with a helmet head thanks to Teddy Boy here.
This is my absolute favorite hair product. It smells amazing and holds all day. It is not a stiff hold but has a nice matte finish and allows your hair to flex but orevents the frizz my hair is notorious for without any product.
So this is a very good hair product, it's pretty natural and it gets with some of the ingredients. However I know going natural can get expensive because of the process. But this container is really small expensive and I usually need a bit more to hold my hair. If you have short hair and are trying to go natural, get it but try other products if you have alot of air.
A little bit of this goes a long way. I have very thin, fine hair and this product is just the right thing to give some texture and dimension without being fussy. I am a woman who loves products free of flowery, girly, unnecessary gunk and this is a good one. Teddy Boy Matte has a faint, sugary smell which I love!
