Shea Moisture Tea Tree Oil & Shea Butter Hi-Def Foamless Shave Gel for Men, 6 Ounce

Shea Moisture Tea Tree Oil & Shea Butter Hi-Def Foamless Shave Gel for Men, 6 Ounce

Great product

I don't know what is "Hi-Def" about this shave gel, but it goes on nearly transparently, and you don't need very much to get a good close shave. Unlike lathering shaving products, there is very little residue left after you are done shaving. While it would be best to rinse your face off, you could just do a quick wipe with at towel. Because it is transparent, it can be hard to keep track of where you have shaved, so you should be attentive to that. This gel has an agreeable smell, which is not nearly as strong as some aloe, tea tree, or menthol products.

I have been chasing a solution to ingrowns for a decade or more

I’m on well water with a salt softener. I use a washcloth on my face with Dr. Bronners 18-in-1 Hemp Tea Tree Pure Castile Soap, followed by this product (non-shave brush product) with a Parker 24C shaver with a Personna MED PREP blade, aftershave is Thayers Witch Hazel w/ Aloe.

Cons:
Tocopheryl acetate + sodium benzoate. Keep in mind these 2 ingredients are down the list (#11 & #14), and you aren’t drinking this. You shave immediately after application. Still not a fan.
There are secondary passes necessary, and this product is watery. Usually you can get away with water only as the misses are minor.
Water being ingredient #1, you’ll go through this quickly compared to your other choices.

Pros:
I haven’t had any ingrowns. No time wasted time lathering up with this product.
The sheer and utter simplicity of it by eliminating that extra step of lathering. The end.

I’d recommend washing your face WELL after using, but this is a really impressive product. I will be buying more. This is the PERFECT travel product as you don’t even need your brush.

I have thrown away more shaving products in the last 10 years (thx phenoxyethanol) than most of you will ever buy.

Shea Moisture, Dr. Bronner’s, and Kiss My Face are mostly safe choices (with exceptions).
Personna Med Preps have no equal.
Shavers: get a Parker 24C, not the Merkur---you will learn bad technique or carry it over. Maggard has a nice set of heads once you get the 24C stem. An old Gillette from the 30s/40s on eb. A Muhle R41 later on. Or simply stop with the Parker 24C if it works for you. Rinse your shaver in a 91% alcohol bath-find an enclosed jar to store the alcohol.
Brushes: Boar: Omega 48, Semogue 1800. Don’t go down that rabbit hole.
Aftershaves: can get away with murder when it’s warm (think $ General Barbasol), only goes up from there. I like THAYERS Witch Hazel or Shea Moisture 100% Marula and Badger Witch Hazel and Badger Cooling Bergamot---the latter when it’s really cold/dry.
