Great smell right through the box. Big chunk of soap.. All organic. Love Honest Amish brand. Thank you. Don't hesitate to buy this brand's products. You just cannot go wrong. Bad reviews and anyone who gives less than 5 stars is a troll and competitive knocker. Came back to edit this review for my input on first use. Fantastic. Left my head hair feeling clean and full after dried out. And my beard was also very clean and felt strong and coarse but not dried out at all. Will purchase again. Btw I cut a small corner of the soap and bathed myself three times today, lathered entire body head to toe front and back twice, not exagerating. (Maybe while showering yes) but also . Washed my hands like 3 times as well also washed my beard again separately because my dog brush up against my face and I felt contaminated.lol and I still have just enough for a quick shower to touch up important spots. Buy it now man.
I've been using Honest Amish products for a few months now and was reluctant to buy soap specifically for my beard but decided to give it a shot. It was money well spent. I use their oil and balm as well but notice a difference in the softness of my beard when using this soap, which for me makes a big difference. My beard is very thick and wavy and this, used with the other products makes a big difference in controlling the "wild hairs".
How I review:
When I review a product said product automatically starts with four stars as I rarely will purchase anything below four stars. I then add and/subtract stars based on certain criteria as listed below.
1. If an item is exactly what I expected and nothing more it will receive a four star rating
2. If an item surpasses my expectations it will gain a star (5 Stars)
3. If an item goes slightly below my expectations it will lose a star (3 Stars)
4. If the instructions for the product (if needed) are poorly written (hard to understand due to language issues or grammar) or just too hard to follow it will lose a star no matter if the product meets or exceed my expectations
5. If a product is significantly below my expectations I will deduct two stars
6. It will be rare that I would give a product one star since I buy mostly items that have a 4+ rating but in rare instances there may be a good reason that even a four star product gets a one star rating from me. It could be because of customer service issues from the company but whatever the case is I will clearly explain my reason for giving a product only one star
Really like this! Smells like licorice and makes my beard extra soft. I thought the grit would be hard to get out of my beard but I haven't noticed any yet. It lasts a long time too! My beard is long and thick. This works great and I use a little beard oil afterward. Sometimes what works is using the soap and not rinsing out the lather but dabbing with a towel and leaving it damp. The beard absorbs the oils in the soap and will make it super soft. Do it!
This is the best soap I've ever used on my beard. I takes very little soap to crate a good lather. I use it on my head, beard and face. It lathers enough to allow for a good shave. It does need to be somewhere that it will not get wet when not in use. It has a very light sent that according to my wife is "pleasant".
Be careful if you wash your face, it can leave you feeling pretty sore, I learned the hard way, "don't over scrub your face with wash cloth", ouch..my skin was torn up...other than that I do use there soaps, in fact it's all I buy...good stuff!

I have enjoyed using this soap for a week now along with the Honest Amish Beard Balm. I can already tell a difference in the softness of my beard and it smells great! I will be trying the othe scents as well. I'm wondering if you have different scents for the Extra Grit? Still love it! I would recommend to any of my beard brothers!
I wish they would have described the scent. It smells like black licorice which is terrible. However, it does leave my beard softer and my skin feeling great after a nice lathery wash!!!!! I would recommend this and I plan on buying another bar with a different scent.
Love this product. Earthy smell, not overpowering. Wash my face and beard with this soap. Feels much better than any other soap I have used on my beard or face. Make sure to store soap in a dry area.
Beat soap ive used EVER! Not a huge fan of the scent but nothing I can't get used to, especially since it works so well while needing to use so little. I'll be buying this from now on.
This is a great offering. It lathers up well, the scent is masculine but not overpowering. Works for beard and body. It gets mushy but not as bad as Dark Squatch, so having a soap tray is a good choice.
