I'm an old geezer who has had a mustache since before most of you were born, but this is the first time I've tried a mustache wax.. I decided to move to a handlebar style just to spice things up and figured I needed a wax to keep it in place, but I didn't really know what to expect.
First off, I love the fact that something that's being applied this close to my nose and mouth is 100% natural (even though I guess you could say that poison ivy and snake venom are all-natural as well). This wax goes on easily, doesn't irritate my skin and doesn't stink -- three more things I really appreciate.
The only downside is that it doesn't really hold as well as I would like and has to be reapplied several times throughout the day, even in this cold weather. All in all, I would like something with better hold but will probably buy again when this tin runs out.
I do not have a Fuller Brush under my nose. I have fine white hairs that curl and spiral every which way and decided to let them grow rather than trim every 3 days. Wacky Tacky sounded like the best but it apparently is dark, something not good on a white mustache. Now on every mustache wax, there's a trade off. One thing is the smell. All waxes smell because they go right there where your nose is and nothing on this planet is odorless, really. So what you want is something you can go "Nose-blind" to or is tolerably pleasant. This one happens to be both for me, but it might be I have Old-Man-Nose. Some kid with a Super Honker might smell this all day. But that's fine. It smells like Christmas. The other trade off is between hold power and ease of application. The better the hold, the harder it is to work up and apply. I use a nail file to skim it from the can and work it in. This one is fairly easy to apply so it is not the best holding. But it keeps my little wild hairs a little more tame. And I'm a delicate flower so I want something that won't make my skin go all pimply. This doesn't. I've had a lot worse. It aint perfect but it will do.
For years I have used the Beardsmen's Mustache wax but then they went out of business. Since then I have been experimenting with many different mustache wax brands and find this Mountaineer Brand to be just what I was looking for. It applies easily, has just the right amount of hold for both my mustache and my long beard, which I wear in two twisted points. It has good holding power for the whole day, regardless of the weather conditions. Once applied it is invisible.
It is not sticky or oily and has a very mild pleasant scent that quickly disappears. The 2 oz. tin lasts a long time and has a secure lid so that it won't come undone if you put it in your travel kit. And there are no undesirable ingredients.
I just purchased a second tin to have on hand. I hope you enjoy it.
I shaved my beard but left my mustache for a Halloween costume and as it's been growing out since. I wanted to keep it looking neat and wanted to play with styling, so I turned to Amazon for a wax - but I am also not versed in mustache care. I read the reviews and chose this one based on customer feedback and price point. I am/was looking for a product that helped train my whiskers as they grown and kept them in place, THIS is not that product. If anything, I'd call it a mustache balm. Here are my pros tho:
PROS:
- smells great
- not greasy
- softens hair
- easy to use
- no residue, product blends in
Again, not the product I need to train a new mustache to style as I like it (handlebar), but I will still use this product when I am not doing a lot of style to keep my stache soft and looking neat. I am thinking that maybe as I grow out the hairs, it will become more helpful as the stache will be more pliable. I will update if this is the case. Still completely satisfied.
TIP: I have been using my hair paste - L'oreal Poker Paste and it does a better job holding the style, yet harder to blend into the stache.
I've got to start with the scent : as men with moustaches know, you want a product that smells good under your nose. And this one ticks that box, citrus and clove make a great combo. Next, comes the hold : the wax is very easy to work with and holds very well. Another big plus is the size, 2 ounces, easily twice what most brands produce. And at a fair price. And did I mention the aroma! Thanks Mountaineer Men (and Women). Great product & service.

Feature Product
- LARGE 2 OUNCE TIN: Compare sizes when you are shopping; although a few have caught on, most companies are still offering their wax in smaller tins. TWICE AS MUCH means it lasts TWICE AS LONG.
- ALL-NATURAL MATTERS WHEN IT'S THAT CLOSE! Even the most careful among us get a mouthful of mustache once in a while. Many waxes on the market are petroleum based-that's oil and gas! Don't risk getting that inside your body. All natural beeswax is a safe alternative to harmful chemicals found in some mustache waxes on the market.
- ORIGINAL MOUSTACHE WAX HAS A MILD SCENT OF CEDAR AND FIR NEEDLE WITH A MILD SCENT that doesn't cling all day so it doesn't interfere with whatever else passes under your nose on a daily basis.
- NEUTRAL/CLEAR TINT doesn't get in the way of your natural hair color. It lets the real you show through.
- HANDMADE IN WV, USA. Each batch is handcrafted with the end use in mind. If you're not satisfied, just let us know and we'll refund your money. No questions asked.

Writing this review not so much for the product, but the business. I purchased the citrus scented mustache wax about a month ago.. it was alright, not much hold, the scent was pretty good, i don't know why people complained about it. The seller reached out to me and asked how i was liking it and i was honest about my opinion and what I thought of it. The seller then reached out to me and asked what the issue was, they didn't just throw stuff at me and hope i didn't leave a bad review. The seller actually took the time to ask, when I told the seller why I wasn't a fan due to the lack of hold, they then sent out a replacement product as well as several sample sizes so that I can try products with various holds. Now, regardless if any of them work ( I am writing this review after opening the package, haven't gotten a chance to try them yet) regardless if any of them work, I'm still impressed with the customer service of this company and would use them again down the road. Okay! that's all :) Happy New Year!
I started growing my beard out 5 months ago and decided its finally time to do something with my moustache. I use products on my beard regularly, and am paritcular about the ingredients. I won't buy anything from Walgreens or walmart. I bought this wax after reading reviews on different sites. I have really tough facial hair (like brillo tough) so i needed a good wax. After reading about how to use wax, i tried it, using a toothbrush to brush the wax in. I live in Florida and even right before New Years its hot. The wax holds the shape even while riding my Harley all day. This product gets 5* from me!
I am a novice to growing and maintaining a mustache. I was told that at the beginning you will want to "train" it by using wax. I love the fact that this product uses all natural ingredients! That gets four stars on its own. Then the smell, that is just wonderful; not overpowering but lingering to say, "Hello, I'm still here, sir." Since it is natural, I feel as though this also doubles as lip balm; not the type that will give you pillow like lips, but keeps them from getting chapped! I have found that using a small amount is better or you could use a hair dryer if you want to use a lot. I haven't tried other brands, so I can't say "compared to other products," but I am very happy to start out with this product and more than likely Mountaineer Mustache Wax is going to be my brand from now on.
The thing I love about Mountaineer Brand is they have extremely reasonable pricing. They aren't in it to rip the consumer off on the latest trend. When you are done wasting money on small portions, move on to this. Better bang for your buck in every way. Great smell and perfect for how I like my mustache to feel all day. I don't use it to hold it into dorky position. I simply use it to control the whiskers and keep them laying down nicely all day and it works perfect for that.
Provides a pretty good hold but with a slightly more natural look. It doesn't dry hard like other types of wax, but keeps the moustache a little more supple. The WV Citrus and Spice scent, which I got, smells nice, a lot like holiday orange with cloves in stuck in it. The citrus does seem to dissipate a little faster than the spice, which I don't personally mind, but others may have differing opinions. It does not dissolve quickly in water alone. Other types of wax tend to dissolve more quickly with a splash of water.
I've only been using it for a few days, but I'm enjoying it. This is the fourth time I've grown a handlebar, in the past I've just used Clubman Moustache wax, as it was easy to get. But I felt like trying out something a little more natural, and I'm glad I did.
