My hubby started shaving with a safety razor using the Henry Cavendish shaving soap. I loved the smell, loved the idea of shaving my legs and other areas with a safety razor, and loved lavender. When he purchased my own shaving set up, he bought this lavender lathering soap for me. I love it! It smells great while shaving giving you that aromatherapy feel but after you are done, it does not interfere with any other scents of lotion, oils or perfume, or cologne you enjoy. The service is great too! They provide follow up emails and tips and tricks. Their customer service is the best I've experienced in a long time.
This is the 2nd time I have purchased from these wonderful people. Anyone can make a solid product like this if shown, but can't touch them on their actual care for their clients. So friendly, and welcoming. The product is exactly what I would expect. It's the care that goes above an beyond!
Thanks to the letter from John that included a link to a tutorial about properly apply shave soap, I can create a GREAT lather with this product. The scent is perfect, not too strong, but just enough to get a hint of something. I think the people wrote the negative comments about this ignored the email from John and did their own thing. If you follow the guidance from that video, I'm positive you'll get a great lather with almost any soap.

I was initially disappointed in the small size of the soap "puck". I have been using this daily for several months and it is lasting much longer than I had thought. I suspect that previous soaps I purchased did not have the later components that this does. Do yourself a favor and get a good quality dish with a lid and a badger hair brush. Pair with a Merkur razor and you will be all set. The only shaving essentials you will ever need to buy.
Hey all, so I've been using Proraso pre-shave and shaving gel for a very long time. The only thing I don't like about the shaving gel is after a couple of minutes of the cream on my face it dries out. It doesn't keep it's lather as long as I would like. Maybe it's me and not the product. Either way, I wanted to try something new and I've heard a lot about the shaving soaps and shea butters. So I took the dive and purchased the lavender nectarine. So this weekend, I used the soap and WOW was I impressed. The soap lather was moist and kept it's moisture throughout the shave and I really liked that. I must of lathered my face for about a good 5 minutes and it just keep building it up. The lavender smell was also very nice and the lather just felt great. I used a fresh razor and boy was it smooth. It was after the shave that I really noticed how much better the soap felt on my face compared to the shaving gel. My face was moisturized and just quenched. I would recommend this shaving lather to anyone who uses a straight razor and even if you don't. It's awesome!

This is the first puck of soap I've bought since starting to shave with a DE razor. It was a little smaller than I thought but I put it in the stainless bowl I bought and warmed that in a pot of boiling water the soap took the shape of the bowl just fine. The lather is very thick and slick and makes shaving a breeze. The lavender smell is juuust enough and does not linger so if you use aftershave or lotion there is no conflicting smells. All in all I'm quite pleased and will be ordering more when this runs out.
I love this soap. Being female and new to wet shaving I wasn't sure if a bar of soap would make a difference, but this soap lathers very nicely and allows for a smooth shave on my legs and under arms. The lavender smell is nice, and it fades after rinsing for those concerned with smelling like lavender. I've used the soap nearly once a week and have probably only worn it down 1/3 of the way.
This product is great. I’m new to the wet shave world and it was awesome to receive helpful tips on the best ways to use this product from the company itself. I have extremely sensitive skin and because of that I have tried shaving in every way you could possibly think of, for awhile I would only get shaved by a professional barber, which was costly and a hassle. My girlfriend (in a desperate attempt to try and save money) got me a wet shave kit for Christmas and I have been hooked ever since. I had some struggles in the beginning, but once I used this soap all that changed. I thought I would try another brand of soap so I started reading and surching. After a lot of reasurch, I tried Henry Cavendish and WOW! It's great. Soap is not rocket science but this soap excels in all departments.The company even sent a follow up email to see if I had any questions and links to how to lather it. I've been shaving 50 years and the videos actually thought me something, so you can teach an old dog new tricks!
It's ok. I gave it 4 stars mainly for the smell. I do not like it at all. That is just me though, the lavender smell is subjective so someone else may enjoy the smell of the soap, but it kinda makes me gag. I should've known that I do not care for many products that have a lavender smell to it. Besides that I would've given it 5 stars. It lathers perfectly and has lasted a long time (unfortunately because I want a new one lol).
