My wife bought this for me for Christmas. I've had a beard for six years and had no idea there were products for beards ( it feels a little girly). I have oil and balm in cigar sent and gentleman's blend sent. Cigar blend smells nothing like cigars which is good ( cigars reek ) . It does smell like a tobacco shop that sells pipe tobacco with a hint of vanilla. Smells really good. Gentleman's blend smells really good too. It's kinda sweet with a hint of sandalwood. I'm not sold on the oil yet. They say it's for your skin but all it does is get all over your beard. The balm does make my beard very soft. I will definitely buy more
Works well, although my wife thinks I smell like a scented candle because of the vanilla scent. That said, she only smells it when she kisses me, but no one else around me picks up the scent. So you don't have to worry about any of your macho guy friends saying you smell like a cupcake, unless you let them kiss you as well. There are so many different scents to choose from out there, but I knew I didn't want woodsy, and neither of these is woodsy. I can't stand the smell of patchouli and I had to read through a lot of comments to make sure this one didn't have that ingredient, like many of the others do. So I hope my confirmation here helps someone else who shares my disdain for patchouli.
The oil is great for conditioning my beard, as well as for a pre-shave for the rest of my face. If you don't use oil as a pre-shave, you should.
So most of us already know that GBS stuff is high quality, and keeps your beard soft and mostly tame (though personally I wish it held a little better as I have curly hair), but most want to know about the scent. It smells just like vanilla cherry Dr pepper. Its not a bad smell, but is VERY sweet.It does last all day too. So while I love the product and will use it till its gone, I'll be looking for slightly more "manly" scent on re-order.

***UPDATE*** After having worn this for a couple months I have started to pick up the cigar scent. It comes on after you've worn it for a few hours, but it's definitely there. New scent score of 4.2
Wife loves this stuff. I understand that Vanilla is one of the most attractive scents to a woman, so that is a good thing. I was hoping for a little more cigar note to this but there is VERY little and you have to use your imagination. More like vanilla and cloves or cinnamon. Your beard will smell like Christmas!
Still a superior blend and I love the GBS balms. So smooth. The Gentlemen's blend is a little more manly and I actually thing smells more like a cigar bar than this. Once I run out of each I will be replacing both.
I was skeptical of the smell being too sweet or soda like. I do not have that impression at all. It’s not an overbearing scent and, in fact, I purposely keep sniffing the aroma into my nose. It’s predominantly vanilla but not like a sweet vanilla cooking extract. This cigar smell is more of a Drew Estates Acid type as opposed to an Ashton VS1; not an earthy/peppery cigar scent. Nonetheless, simply delicious and performs well with holding and putting some shine on my beard.

Many companies have tried to Replicate duplicate but this is the original. 5 stars on quality and scent wise, This is by far my favorite And that's saying a lot as I have probably tried around 10 different company's. The sent itself is hard to describe but they did a phenomenal job binding all the ingredients together to come up with a superb scent, Neither one of the ingredients overpowers the other.
After 20 years in the Marines and basically having to shave every day; I decided to grow the obligatory veteran beard when I got out. During the time I was growing out my beard I used a lot of different balms and oils. GBS Cigar Blend is by far my favorite scent out of all of the different ones I tried. I'll definitely be returning customer.
I just used this for the first time today. It smells amazing, albeit a bit Christmas-ish in a way that I can't quite put my finger on. The scent is very pleasant and long-lasting, I've been at work for several hours now and the smell is still noticeable.
I've attempted to grow a beard several times in my life but never knew how to take care of it properly and usually would shave it when it started getting to any substantial length due to it not looking quite right, or being coarse and unmanageable. Having recently been introduced to beard oil (and starting with some basic supermarket brand stuff) I must say it makes a huge difference. After just a few days with any type of oil, and two days of GBS brand (used some Bay Rum yesterday) I can definitely feel and see a difference in both my beard and the skin underneath. I wish someone had clued me in to proper beard care sooner!
This seems like great stuff, especially for the price. I have already started recommending it to my bearded friends and coworkers.
Overall it's an excellent product, as with all the grave before shave products the beard oil comes from natural ingredients. I've used many different brands of beard oils and balms and I believe that Grave Before Shave is one of the best when it comes to bang for you buck. While they are not the best product I've ever used they certainly are great performers and generally a fair bit cheaper than their competitors.
I chose this product because I am huge fan of tobacco scents and this blend well with many of the different colognes that I wear Herod, Tobacco Vanille, London, Pure Havane. When it comes to scent profile the Vanilla plays a central role and some support spices give it a very gourmand sweet scent. The tobacco notes are present; however, I wouldn't compare tobacco to a cigar the scent is akin to an aromatic pipe tobacco. Overall this a pleasant scent on the masculine but sweet end of the spectrum.
If you want a GBS beard oil with vanilla tones and a bit more of a bite try their gentleman. Blend
Great beard balm with good hold. I've tried other beard balms and they were ok on hold. This product does a good job keeping stray hairs in check and has the added bonus of a great smell. Love it!
