Conair Barber Shop Series Professional 20-piece Haircut Kit, Home Hair Cutting Kit

Conair Barber Shop Series Professional 20-piece Haircut Kit, Home Hair Cutting Kit

Awesome hair cutting tool

When rating an item I always take into account the price. For under $31 this is an awesome set. We will mainly use this to trim my husband's hair along the hairline. I scissor cut his hair so I just like the trimmer to get a nice clean cut on his neck and clean up any hairs below. I won't use the attachments but they are nice to have if you need them.

The scissors included are just basic and I prefer a more professional scissors but they will do for a quick trim up and cut well enough. The trimmer works by plugging in to a wall socket. I've had rechargeable ones in the past but find since I just use it as a trimmer that a plug in unit last longer. The rechargeable batteries usually poop out in a few years and then you have to buy a whole new trimmer. This should last us a lot longer so I am happy about that.

Thanks for reading my review

THOUGHTS

Works great sharp precise and does the work great. Clean shave and shape up looks good. My brother loves this and the brand. I also have an additional on for my hair when I’m doing certain hair styles.

I hate it when the marketing term "professional" is used for "home kits". At this price point you are not going to get "professional". What you do get is a good solid quality kit. The size guides are all your standard sizes, are of a fairly durable plastic and clip on and off easily )yet no so easy they just fall off). I found that this is a bit louder than some, though the cut is clean with no pulling. After a couple dozen cuts, only light cleaning and no oiling these still perform as if they were just opened. I can see this lasting several years with good care - more than paying for themselves several times over.

This is a professional hair cutting kit. The clippers are well made with adjustable taper control and stainless steel blades. The blades are sharp and seem to hold their sharpness. There are 8 attachments for different hair lengths. Included is a barber comb, scissors, cleaning brush, cape, a carry case, lubricating oil and blade guard. Great set!

Nice clippers.Wahl is my favorite brand but these are decent

great!

This Conair HC5000 markets itself as a professional hair clipper. So does the Remington HC5870, my current hair clipper. Thus I will compare the two.

Both feel heavy, sturdy, and of professional quality. The Conair is heavier.

Both cut hair well.

The Remington offers a wider array of comb attachments. The Conair offers eight comb attachments ranging from 1/8 inch to one inch. So does the Remington. But Remington also offers a 1/16 inch comb attachment, and two side taper attachments (see photo), which I find very useful in cutting the sides of my head.

For some reason, the Conair HC2000 includes side taper combs, but not this, their HC5000.

The Remington has a rechargeable battery and a detachable cord. This is a nice feature, because if offers greater mobility. It's easier to use the clipper when there's no cord dangling from it. By contrast, the Conair's cord is not detachable.

The Conair has a taper lever (see photo). This allows you to extend or retract the blade, making it easier to clear it of hair, and easier to customize the length of your cut. The Remington does not have a taper lever.

There are some other minor differences, mostly in what's included. The Conair includes a comb, a tiny brush to clean the blades, some lubricating oil, and scissors. The Remington includes no comb, but it does offer two larger brushes (one to clean the blades, and one for your neck), a larger bottle of lubricating oil, and bigger scissors.

Both include a barbershop cape, and a hard plastic carrying case.

The Remington's advantages are its side taper comb attachments and superior mobility (due to its detachable cord when running on battery).

The Conair's advantages are its taper lever and superior durability. (It feels heavier -- and perhaps the reason it doesn't have a rechargeable battery is because it requires more power than does the Remington.)

I've been cutting my sons' hair since they were toddlers. One has sensory issues and would freak out at anyone else messing with his hair and the other got his ear nicked once and that put a stop to any visits to the Barber shop. The amount of money we have saved on hair cuts over the past decade or so definitely paid for all my clippers and scissors!

This is my third Conair hair cutting kit and it seems like each kit is better than the last. This one is, by far, the heaviest of the haircut electric clippers that I have owned and the blades do an excellent job at getting every single hair in the path of the clippers. My sons have very thick hair so cheaper clippers have had a hard time doing a good job. I would have to go over each section a few times to make sure I got all the stray hairs. The Barber Shop Professional razor actually went through smoothly like, well, the clippers at the Barber shop! The motor did not strain or get hot.

The blade attachments are less varied than other sets I have owned since these do not have the angled 'around the ear' attachment. However, those tend to be hit or miss since they often trim the area around the ear at a different length than the other attachments you may have used for the rest of the head.

The storage case is perfect with a slim profile and no frills. It fits everything neatly into a small box which is easily stored. The cape is a bit flimsier than the capes I got with other kits but it really is only meant to be a light cover so thickness is not an important factor with it.

I would highly recommend this kit to anyone looking for a strong, well made hair clipper.

A basic household haircut clipper, this particular set has numerous accessories including 8 comb attachments to trim hair at various lengths, scissors, barber cape, comb, blade guard, small tube of lubricating oil, cleaning brush, instruction manual along with a plastic carrying/storage case. The clipper has a built-in taper adjustment which can be switched while in use to go from shorter to longer without stopping.

Although not a professional, for the last few years I’ve been cutting the hair of the in-house male. This was not a life-long goal but after years of watching his continual frustration with bad haircuts or good haircuts from barbers/stylists that retired shortly after finding them, and then there was that truly unfortunate haircut a replacement barber who only knew one style inflicted upon him, I decided to see if I could learn a new skill.

After hours of watching on-line instruction videos and stumbling through the first few haircuts I am now his barber. The point here is I am semi-knowledgeable about home-use equipment for this process and this is a good basic set. He has thick straight hair and any mistake is glaringly obvious. I use a combination of the clippers to trim the back about three inches from the bottom edge and the rest I shape with a scissors.

The clipper does an excellent job and the combs attach securely. Beyond those pieces most of the accessories are just okay and while functional are on the lower quality end of the spectrum. If giving haircuts becomes a regular task the scissors are the first thing I’d replace. The cape is fine and fits the adult male but this it is somewhat short so that may be another item that may be worth upgrading.

The small cleaning brush is essential for keeping the blades clear of debris along with the included oil—add a drop or two to the blades before each use for smooth operation. The hard shell storage case is helpful for ensuring the pieces are not misplaced. The power cord on the clipper is 6 feet long. This is a good basic set for home styling.
