Kent R7T "The Apsley" Hand Made Fine and Coarse Toothed Saw-Cut Pocket Travel Comb (5" / 130 mm) - Gentle On Scalp For Men / Women

Kent R7T

I ordered 3 so far, and only one of them is as expected: the teeth are rounded perfectly and feel butter-smooth on my scalp. The other 2 are a little bit on the sharper side and I can actually use those combs to scratch my scalp a little if I wanted to. So, this review is really for the perfect comb out of the 3. Don't get me wrong though: the other 2 are still very nice.

I'm 37 years old and I have always just used those black "unbreakable" combs. The very first Kent R7T I tried is the perfect one that I'm raving about, and it was the very first time I had ever combed my hair with something other than one of those cheap black combs. I never thought I'd get excited about a comb, but that's exactly what happened. It makes those cheap black combs feel like cheap toys, as though they're just "pretend combs" for children. These Kent combs are the complete opposite of that feeling. They look better too, and the way they feel in my hands is the complete opposite of that "cheap toy comb" feeling.

I bought 2 more just to make sure I have backups just in case, but the teeth on these 2 aren't quite as perfectly rounded or something. They're still pretty nice, but my first one is quite noticeably better. I want to take off 1 or 2 stars for that, but it doesn't feel right. My first R7T deserves more than just 5 stars.

I guess this quality control is why the comb is barely $10. Perhaps I would need to spend a lot more if I wanted to have more consistent quality control. Either way, I took another chance and ordered 2 more R7Ts. I hope to remember to update this review when I receive them. I expect to have them in about a week or so.

I am over 80 years of age so I have combed my hair many times. This is without a doubt the best hair comb I have ever used. It is extremely well made, is attractive and best of all it is smooth as it glides through my hair. Buy it , I think you will like it.

The second you comb your beard for the first time with these combs, you realize you were very smart and lucky to have made the purchase. These are AMAZING and they glide trough the beard hair like a hot knife through butter. I love them. They aren't pricey and the quality is so high, as they are handmade and each one of them is polished to perfection. Really recommended for any beardsman using cheap molded plastic combs, gettting static on their beard, breaking hairs and pulling them out from the tangled mess the combs leave your beard as. Do yourself a favor and get not ONE of these but TWO, one for your bathroom and one for your pocket or just as a spare. You never wanna be caught not having one of these, trust me.

As soon as I picked this up, it was obvious to me of the quality. Smooth & polished would sum this up.
It's too bad one has to pay this much for something as simple (one would think) as a comb. The real test is longevity.

I have fairly coarse hair and usually use both a brush and a comb after showering to keep things neat. For the longest time I'd been using cheap drugstore combs, but decided to "splurge" on this $8 item while getting some other grooming products from Amazon. I was genuinely surprised by the result.

I would have thought that making a comb was a solved problem in this day and age, and that one comb would be just as good as another. This Kent comb, however, is sturdy. The plastic is thick and rigid, but smooth, and the tips of the teeth are so smooth and polished that they feel soft against your scalp.

This *particular* comb was a bit shorter than I expected (should have used a ruler to estimate 143mm, my bad), but that too turned out to be a benefit as it's easy to pocket and stick in my travel kit. I've recommended this comb to several people by now (I've had mine for about 3 years or so), and all have been surprised (in a good way).

Feature Product

  • Saw cut, and then hand polished and buffed to create soft rounded teeth that will not damage your hair or scalp
  • Made from cellulose acetate, a non-petroleum based plastic derived from plants that has been found to create less static in hair
  • Smooth teeth stimulate the natural oils inside the hair cuticles as your hair is combed, and it is this oil that encourages the cuticles on each hair to lie flat creating strong, healthy, shiny hair
  • A non-handmade comb is known as an injection moulded comb. They have razor sharp teeth which damage the hair cuticle, and ultimately cause split ends. These combs also feature tiny ridges, known as mould marks which scratch and snag your hair causing breakage and severe cuticle damage.
  • Kent quality assurance - Over 200 years of craftsmanship, experience and quality

Yeah... the reviews are right. These combs are amazing! They work well and don't scratch your scalp at all. Downside? I bought one a few months back and lost it. Seemed like forever to get my replacement (tho only a couple days). I ordered the 2 pack this time! Will never go back to plastic "Ace" type combs.

Great comb. Recently switched from a brand of combs that everyone has been using for 100+ years as they have cheaped out on their manufacturing process and materials, so the fingers of the combs are nearly sharp as razors. This comb cost 2-3 times as much, but it's built to a much higher standard and well worth the cost. You won't be disappointed.

Have you ever used one of those black mens combs? Here is a warning, Once you use this comb there is no going back. This comb is solid, It feels good and has no flex what-so-ever. This comb was alittle shorter than I anticipated but still is the best comb I've ever owned. I'm not sure what else to say about this product other than you will not be disappointed.

I've been using a ACE comb for years but recently my wife started using it and broke off teeth so I needed to replace it.
After reading reviews that the quality has severely dropped I had to find a new brand so after reading reddit recommendations and Amazon reviews I chose this Kent comb and I have to say I'm extremely satisfied.
The spine feels very strong and so do the teeth that I believe it will be in my possession for many years to come and might even last my wife using it, though I've warned her not to.

Usually combs nowadays are so flimsy and dull - out of the box. This comb is sharp and strong. I wanted something that would glide through my hair, not float on top. And YES! It did. I am in the process of ordering the table comb from the same company. I almost never give product five stars. But, this time I am. I'm glad there are still decent combs out on the market.
