Wahl Smart Shave Rechargeable lithium ion wet / dry water proof foil shaver for men. Smartshave technology for shaving, trimming, and wet or dry shave with precision ground trimmer blade #7061-900

I don't understand why there are so many negative reviews. I had already purchased the Panasonic ES-LT41-K Arc3 Wet Dry Electric Razor and thought it was OK. Definitely shaved close but left skin feeling slightly irritated. The Panasonic also does not deal well with 3-4 days growth. The linear motor although fast just doesn't have the grunt to deal with the longer growth. The shaver would snag and pull unless I patiently shaved ever so slowly until all long growth was reduced. The number one thing that I don't care for is the very short run time from the Panasonic. If I use it on 3-4 days growth I must use nearly 35-40 minutes of its 45 minutes run time. The Panasonic is very well made though and gives me confidence it will last.
I saw the Wahl Smart Shaver with longer run time at a reduced price and decided to give it a try. Wow was I pleasantly surprised. Feels very nice in the hand and it is much easier to use the trimmer than the Panasonic as far as seeing where the trimmer is cutting but what stands out for me is the Wahl's ability to deal with 3-4 days growth. No snagging or pulling and motor just powers through. I have seen others say that it does not give a close shave but I have had just the opposite experience. For me the Wahl shaves just as close as the two head arc 3 and does not leave my face feeling irritated. Now the number one positive thing though is the battery. Just incredible! Twice the run time of Panasonic and the nice thing is even with 3-4 days growth I only use about 20% of battery run time. There is one negative but very slight for me. The trimmer is a little difficult to return to shave position because the surface for thumb to move trimmer is so smooth but with all of the other positives I don't mind I just give it a little assist with a finger from other hand at the top of trimmer to help it back. It seems to be easier to move the more I use it. Though it seems very well designed I am not sure about its durability. Only time will tell. Hope it lasts. Only had it about a month. If it keeps going a few years it will probably be the best electric shaver I have owned and I have owned many.

This is a very good shaver, especially for the price. It seems to be made of some sort of metal, although I'm not positive about that, it could be plastic. If so it's well built plastic, with rubber grips. Most important though is how well it shaves. I'm notoriously picky about my shavers, and I also have sensitive skin, sensitive to heat or pulling. This shaver does neither, even when being used for well over an hour, and when shaving delicate areas. The pop up trimmer, notorious for pulling or cutting on other shavers, does neither, even when sawing through thick hair, such as on my beard or my head. The shaver came to me charged, though not fully, and I can confirm that it is waterproof, I shave in the shower so I made sure to shave under the water, and it didn't phase it. It comes with a cloth case, a charger obviously, and clipper oil, a cleaning brush and an oil dropper. It was a bit pricy at 70 bucks, but you get what you pay for, and this is definitely worth the money.

This is a really good cordless shaver. A worthy successor to the three foil Remington I had for years. But what sets this apart from my old one and new ones alike is that its Li-ion battery is VERY long lasting. Though I don't use it everyday,I haven't had to recharge it once in the 10-weeks I've had it! And the power meter hasn't even diminished one notch yet! Another great feature is its protected power-off feature so that it doesn't accidentally come on during luggage transit and end up totally dead when unpacked. Finally, it performs very well as a shaver, too. I get a nice close shave on its first pass. As long as I don't drop or lose it, it could be the last cordless shaver I'll ever need.

I bought this a few months ago and no issues. I have sensitive skin and I shave with this without using water or any sort of moisturizer and have yet to have any issues. I also like the razor on the back which helps straighten out my sideburns and back of neck when needed. Also very easy to empty the hairs that are collected (every 3 days) and very easy to oil (once a month). Couldn't be happier with this purchase. Also, the battery life is incredible. I use this once a day and have charged it twice in the 3.5 months I have had it.

Maybe your thinking, "I wasn't expecting very much"!?! Could be, I hate to be disappointed. But this shaver is better than I remember my old Wahl razor ever was and it's been a loyal servant of my shaving needs for at least 14 years and it may be longer, don't remember exactly. When I first got the new shaver, I thought, oh no this thing it's not very powerful. That's because it's not as noisy as the model 4000 Wahl, a noticeable improvement. I charged the new razor completely when I got it 7 weeks ago. Then I used it until the charge ran out, last week, shaved at least 40 times in that span of time. It died as expected running full speed until it just stopped, just like a rechargeable lithium drill will do. Since this model shaver is water-proof (which I haven't tested) it cannot be plugged-in to continue shaving as my old 4000 can do, but that's OK I'll get used to it. For this one experiment, I was able to plug in my old razor and finish shaving. Next time, I'll heed the warning and recharge before it dies. Or correction, I'll see the warning and recharge. There was no instruction to remove the paper fake-warning display covering the nifty charging lights so I didn't really see that the charge was running down or the blinking red-light that is supposed to occur. I thought the charging lights were AWFULLY DIM, but it was just me! Really happy with my purchase, shaves as close or closer than any electric shaver I've ever used.

The best electric razor I have come across in thirty years!

I ordered this shaver because I have owned a Wahl before and liked it. I have been using Braun's since and have liked them, but the price is too high. I didn't rate it as a 5 because I am getting 11 days of once a day shaving per battery charge which is not what I expected from advertising and from feedback. If it wasn't for the claims of long battery usage, I would be completely happy with it because it gives me a good shave for an electric.

I've been fighting the war of the beards since about 1952 when I was working at a TV shop where we sold Shick electric shavers so that's what I started with. Except during army basic training I have never used anything but electric. I bought a Norelco rotary at the PX once and promptly gifted it to another soldier as it always lost the battle against my beard. Many years later I was very happy using the shaver that caused Victor Kiam to purchase Remington and I still have several of those that use the now unavailable SP42 head. As it's replacement I have an MS2 that uses the SP69 head. That gives a nice close shave but it's gone from the sales world too. It is great for a close shave but no good if it's been over a day so the SP42 is used first to shorten the long stuff then the SP69 to finish the job. I was hoping this Wahl 7061-900 would be a good replacement for both those old shavers and it makes a good compromise. With a lot of effort it will plow through a 2 day growth and the final result is decent but not as close as the Remington with the SP69 head. I have not mastered the trimmer yet so I go back to either of my old Remingtons for trimming sideburns and to get a straight line on my mustache. If replacement heads ever become available for this shaver I'm hoping they may have solved the close shave problem but I think possibly there is no way to get a close shave and a 2 day beat down out of the same head. I guess the close shave requires a very thin screen while the 2 day requires larger holes that can't be put in a thin screen.

Shaves closer than the Panasonic I have used for several years. Only complaint is the difficulty in moving the sideburn trimmer in and out. It’s “Chrome” plated and slippery to the touch.

A great little shaver. Exactly what I was looking for. Nice to find a shaver these days that just quietly gets on with its job: no ridiculous 'floating head' (well, a small 'float', but I can live with that) and a popup edge trimmer that works perfectly. I particularly like the 'lock' feature that stops the shaver getting accidentally switched on in the wash-bag when travelling.
Why not a 5th star? Because it came with (what I presume to be) a US electrical connector - so it's a bit of a fiddle to get to work in my mains adaptor here in the UK.
