A nice product...works as advertised....However, I am a "chemist at heart". I read labels. With that said, I noticed that one of the main ingredients is grape seed oil. I went out and bought a large bottle of grape seed at the supermarket (3.99) and brought it home.(Grape seed oil is natural moisturizer and used worldwide for skin care products) When I opened it up, it smelled like the Lather & Wood. Then I shaved with my "bargain brand" and I got a great shave! Make you own conclusions here...you are smart enough!

Let’s start with the product. I ordered the sandalwood scent and I am glad I did. The scent is subtle but very pleasant. I use a sandalwood shaving cream as well as the Lather & Wood after shave balm in sandalwood scent. They all go hand in hand and after shaving I enjoy the aroma of the sandalwood products together. The oil feels great on the skin and I can feel a difference in the whiskers prior to shaving. I didn’t put too much stock in the pre shave routine when using a straight razor, however, I have found that it makes all the difference. This oil does the job and it does it well.
Now let’s talk about the customer service. By far, the best customer service I have received from any seller on Amazon. After ordering the product the seller reached out to let me know that they were processing the order and that they were interested in finding out how the products worked for me after I had a chance to use them. After a couple of weeks they checked back in as they really care about how the products perform. Not only did they offer a quality product but they actually reach out to see that you’re satisfied with it. To put the icing on the cake, they offered to mail me another bottle of the oil for free! Now, how do you complain about that.
In closing, they have high quality products and stellar customer service.

I have been using regular shaving cream for over 25 years, and have always hated shaving because of razor burn. I tried some Lather & Wood after shave balm, hoping to calm the burn bit is actually made it worse, so I contact the company and let Morgan know about my experience. He immediately refunded the purchase. However, I asked him if he had any recommendations on how to calm the burn, and suggested not getting the burn in the first place. He then sent me an email regarding using his shave oil followed by his shave soap, rather than a bottled shaving cream. I followed his suggestions and not only was it much more comfortable and easy to shave this way. No razor burn whatsoever! So I tried his after shave balm again and there was ZERO discomfort. Now I am a customer for life! Great products and even greater customer service.
I bought this pre-shave oil for my husband for Father's Day to go along with a single blade razor (old fashioned razor) and he absolutely loves this oil! Not only does it smell so fresh and wonderful, but it really helps pre-treat his face for a nice, clean shave. He barely got this out of the package before he was in the bathroom using it. His skin was so soft after his shave and the oil left a slight fragrance behind that was just refreshing. I will definitely be buying this again and again.
This is actually my first time using a pre shave oil. I’m glad I tried it because the added comfort is a huge benefit. I have incredibly sensitive skin. The first shaving pass is where I get most of my nicks and cuts from. The amount of cuts and nicks are vastly reduced. Having the oil as an added layer of protection from the razor blade combined with the shave soap makes shaving much more comfortable.
After washing my face, I would use the oil as my base then apply the shave soap on top. The Sandle wood scent is also pleasant to smell. It’s a strong scent at first, but in no way is it over powering.
I highly recommend using this preshave oil. To me, It’s a very thick and slick type of oil which is good because you want as much protection for your skin when shaving.

I got this for my husband. I felt like it was time for him to shave like a grownup. He followed the instructions on the bottle. The scent is very light and non intrusive. I was really worried it would be heavy and gross because he’s not much of a cologne guy. He said he really was happy with the shave and felt it was the closest he’s gotten outside of the barber shop. He has really dense facial hair and the hairs themselves are huge. I’ve never seen hair like that. He has a horrible time shaving and he cuts himself up. This has really reduced the amount of cuts and razor burn. We will be purchasing this again.
This works as advertised. I have a lot of razor bumps on my neck after I shave. Some of them are ingrown curly hairs and others are just irritated hair follicles or pores. Using this product before my routine shave has helped with all of those problems. The ingrown hairs still happen, which is expected as they are just curly as hell, but the irritation is much milder from them. I won't shave without it anymore, 100% recommended.
Update May 2017: I'm still using Lather and Wood daily and switched to the bigger bottles. My shave bumps are few and far in between. I wouldn't shave without this product
While I was on a vacation in New York I stumbled across a beard and shaving store. I asked him what I was missing on shaving and all they could talk about was appreciative oil. They wanted $75 for their oil.
I bought this oil on Amazon and was hopeful that it would improve my shaving experience as for 20 years I've dealt with razor burn.
How on Earth did I not know about this before. The oil has made my shaving experience extremely great. My skin is soft the next day and I have no razor burn.
I have very fair skin and I was worried the oil would give me pimples and other breakouts. It has not. It's almost as if the oil is so thick it does not absorb into my skin. Wash it off after shaving and you have a close shave with no skin damage.
I love this pre-shave oil. It is not heavily scented, leaves no trace of residue and really conditions/preps the hair and skin for your shave.
I will say in the past I have been a little stingy with my application, but have recently started to be a bit more liberal in my usage and the results have been excellent. You don't to have it running down your face, but I think it is best when used a bit more generously.
When paired with a quality shaving soap and razor this will greatly enhance your shave!
I had been using Art of Shaving Pre-Shave Oil, and I enjoyed the luxury of it, but thought the price was a bit high. So, I decided to try this Lather and Wood. I'm glad I did. It still provides a luxurious feel, but at a more reasonable cost. I prefer unscented pre-shave oil, and this one definitely fit the bill. I would recommend this product to any guy looking to add the protection of a pre-shave oil without additional scents or taking it in the pocketbook. On the strength of this product, I just bought the shave soap, Haven't had a chance to use it yet, but I'll let you know how it goes.
