The Wahl Designer clipper is meant to bridge the gap between the bargain models and the eye-wateringly expensive professional models. It does, but it still seems a little on the cheap side to me, for the cost. Make no mistake, it gets the job done, and it does have a number of small features that set it apart from the cheapies-- like a round cord that resists tangling much better than flat ones, and a blade design that can be aligned without detaching it entirely. The most useful feature (as long as you're prepared for it) is a near-zero overlap of the blades at their closest setting. This provides a good balding cut and edge trimming, but also opens up the opportunity to chew up your head if you're not careful.
My biggest complaints about the device are all quality control. The blade came covered in a fine black detritus that I can only guess was part of the manufacturing or lubricating process, but looks really awful for a new product. A few user reviews claimed their item was "used and covered in hair," and I could see how this stuff could be confused with fine hair trimmings. Furthermore the blade was atrociously misaligned from the factory, so badly that I had to open it up and nudge over the motor assembly itself to get the blades within operating spec. I expect more from a $50 device. Wahl in general makes a superior product in the realm of consumer hair trimmers but they need to step up QC.
I always loved Wahls, they are so dependable. Ive been a stylisyt for 10 years, and Ive never had a problem with my Wahls, I even prefer them over my Paul Mitchell Osters. Clean cut, they don't overheat, and last forever when they are taken care of. I would recommend purchasing a lubricant along with these and brushing up and using oil after every use.
These have been great. I've had them for a few months and have done probably 10-12 hair cuts with them. My old clippers used to pull my son's hair (so he hated getting hair cuts). These just glide like butter through his hair, so no more tears or tantrums. They also work great on my husband's hair, which is super soft and fine. The only thing that I don't like is when you turn them on, they make a loud clacking sound... it kind of freaks my sons out...but as far as performance, these work really well.
I was forced to upgrade from my cheap set of Wahl clippers. My oldest son has incredibly thick hair. The old clippers wouldn't cut through that rug without grabbing and pulling his hair. A barber friend of mine suggested these for price/value they are about the best. I have used them to cut both his and my youngest sons hair without an issue (well, aside from convincing a 4 yr old to sit still). They did get a little warm after a while but, overall no problems. Highly recommended.
A hairdresser friend of mine recommended these clippers. I only use them at home to cut my husband's hair and he trims his beard with them, and while they don't have the convenience of being cordless, they make up for that in power. They are definitely much better than the cordless clippers we used to have (that were about the same price). If you don't mind the cord, I think they are great for the price.

They fit great in your hand, very ergonomic. They feel very sturdy, with some heft to them but not too heavy which is great. The cord is nice and long as it should be and it comes with guards 1-8 with the exception of the 1/2 guard and 1.5 guard. Im glad I chose these wahl clippers and I recommend these to anyone who cuts at home or needs a good clipper to travel with. Im a novice when it comes to cutting hair but Im learning and have 2 boys that need cuts on the regular so this was a necessity!
Annnnnndddd quiet 🤫 which is nice because they don’t scare children when they’re in my chair making my job way easier.
Great machine for the price. Only issue is if you have to adjust the blade you can have a bit of a time trying to get it set.
I used to this thing all the time it's the first thing I use when I go to shave off my beard and then I level It Down Smooth with my high powered razor. God bless.
Two haircuts have already paid two thirds of the purchase price!!!
My wife had never used a set of hair clippers before, she watched one video on U-Tube (Betty Ciao) and I ended up with a better haircut than I had been getting from a good local hairdresser!!
The clipper is easy to use, just follow the very straight forward directions, it is well made and should last many years with the appropriate care.
Go ahead and buy this product, you won't be disappointed and you will be saving cash every time you use it!!!
