As this Amazon listing sells both the liquid and the cream Proraso aftershave, I want to note that my review pertains to the cream which is their "sensitive skin" formula.
Over the years I have used various after shave creams and lotions, primarily for the purpose of reducing razor burn (and, to a lesser extent, to prevent dry skin.) Some products have been better than others, but none that I have used worked as well as this Proraso does. I've been using this aftershave cream exclusively for the better part of two years and will continue using this. Not only am I delighted with how well this aftershave works, but I am blown away by how FAST it works!
One issue I had with some aftershaves was that they clogged pores, and this generally causes me to have an acne breakout. The Proraso does not cause me acne in the least, and so I feel this product does not clog pores up. Additionally, it does not have even the slightest bit of that "sticky" feeling that some aftershaves have in which you can feel it on your face for hours after application. In addition to not being sticky, the scent is also a home-run: it is a minor-but-pleasing scent with a more masculine fragrance (but without being overpowering.)
The formulation that they use for their aftershave cream is both very effective and very fast-acting. The oatmeal extract in this must be a really effective moisturizing ingredient because, like some Aveeno & Eucerin products I have used that also contain oatmeal, this gives some serious moisturizing effects & instant relief from discomfort. I also think the green tea extract may help here too. Green tea is a pretty strong anti-inflammatory and razor burn is technically inflammation; Proraso is very fast to calm razor burn and visibly reduce irritation, and so I feel the green tea probably plays a role with how fast-acting this aftershave is. I also like how Proraso makes it clear that their aftershave does not have silicone, mineral oil, or dyes in it, and this is because I find those ingredients can often irritate my skin.
As for the price, this is one of the more expensive aftershaves I have purchased. You can find aftershaves at a grocery store for 1/5th the price, so this Proraso is anything but cheap. However, this is awesomely good aftershave. I do not mind paying the price one bit given how well this works. Razor burn is wickedly uncomfortable and Proraso's aftershave cream works faster and more effectively than other products I have used. So overall, I highly recommend this.
If you are considering this as a gift, I think it is a great choice because this is one of those products that almost everyone falls in love with after they use it. The box is presentable, the scent is mild, pleasant, and masculine, and the large majority of people who use this will fall in love with it's speed and effectiveness. Proraso also makes shaving cream that is another fantastic product. I have given the shave cream & aftershave cream together as a gift on a few occasions and the people I gave them to absolutely loved it. So I figured I'd throw that out there in the event you ever needed a cool gift.
I generally like Porasso products and this after-shave balm did not disappoint. I love the citrus scent, and the lotion is cool and comfortable on the skin. The only reason this isn’t a five-star rating is the glass bottle with a screw-off top that houses the lotion. While it conveys an aura of quality, it isn’t as easy to use as other products in plastic bottles with flip tops. That being said, I will definitely buy this after-shave balm again as I like it a lot more than competing products from Jack Black, Nivea, Aveda, Clinique, Art of Shaving, Crabtree & Evelyn, and several lesser known brands.
I've tried many different products including ones from fancy department stores that cost ALOT more. This is my favorite after shave. It's a liquid-cream, I know that doesn't make sense but once you try it, you'll understand what I mean (think balm). I have sensitive skin that gets dry in the winter. This stuff is amazing. Light feeling, moisturizes well, and no pore clogging, etc. I've become a huge fan of the Proraso line of products.
I like that they still use a glass bottle and this will last you a long time as a little goes a long way.
If you have tight feeling dry skin after shaving, this is the stuff for you! There is a mild scent to it, that dissipates quickly.
I love this product. The Proraso system has helped me overcome certain sensitivities that come from shaving. I love the smell of this product. It leaves my face feeling cool and fresh. This is a little pricey, but with the price, I understand the premium. Unfortunately, with sensitive skin, I have to invest more in a clean shaven face. I watch for low prices on this product and try to stock up any time I can find a deal. It does not last as long as I would hope for the price, but again I see the value to continue buying it.
I was using Nivea shaving balm for a long time because I thought it was as good as it gets. I have occasional eczema and the itchiness was beginning to get on my face. On a lark (allodola in Italian) I tried Proraso because it contains natural ingredients and seems to have very good reviews. There is a reason for the reviews. This is the single best shaving lotion I have ever used. Granted, I have not used more than perhaps twenty different brands, but Proraso is what I should have been using all along. There is a nice, subdued fragrance and nothing more. No tricks, no fancy instructions or ingredients, just put a little on and it makes all skin irritation go away. Magic (magia in Italian).

I ordered this based on a review I read online. I must say, I was impressed with it. It worked well to help the sensitive skin on my neck I recently went back to an electric shaver and this helped alleviate the burning and break outs that I used to get. Nice scent and it doesn't take much of it to work well.
The stuff with menthol bothers me. This balm works great and is never irritating. I rub in in nicks.
Compared to Nivea, this is lighter and a little less greasy. Has a scent but sure doesn't seem strong. Comes out of the bottle better, too.
Classic barbershop scent, herbal, minty fresh feel from the eucalyptus. Some skin redness when first applied but dissipates after 20 minutes.
After 13 months I finally used up my original bottle and ordered a second one. I wet shave two days a week and after adding this to my shaving routine, my skin irritation and red bumps on my neck immediately went away. I have really sensitive skin on my neck and this is the best product I have ever used. After I apply it my face, neck and hands have a great scent, skin feels super soft and smooth. I am a Proraso customer for life!
For the longest time my husband refused to use any aftershave products because he associates scented men's products with sleaze, and his skin tends to break out. I hated that his face was dry and scratchy. I was so glad I found this after scouring the internet for the best shaving products for straight-razor shaving. I gave it to him for Christmas and it's something he's actually willing to use, and it doesn't irritate his skin, meaning his face doesn't irritate my skin. It's a win-win.
I purchased this along with the Proraso pre-shave cream (green jar) and he really likes that as well. He rubs it in right after the shower before lathering up with a regular brush and cake-style shaving soap and says it gives him a closer shave.
