It usually doesn’t take me long to figure out whether or not I like something. I recently purchased the Wahl Detailers and the Andis Slimline Pro Li.
The Detailers were only so so. I’m sure if I would’ve zero-gapped them, they would’ve improved a bit, but I figured, why even waste my time.
The Slimline Pro Li’s were okay if you’re doing a hairline, but only so so if you’re lining up a beard/goatee. Basically it does just what the label/box says it does, “necklines and light touch-ups.
The Wahl 5-Star Razor Edger was awesome! In fact I used it straight out the box, without adjusting/zero-gapping them. In fact, if you’re going to be lining your head or beard every day, you really don’t want “zero” gap. It will leave you with dark spots/scars from continuous lining, over time. Leave zero gap to the barbershop, where you’re only going to be getting lined once every week or longer. These came out the box very close to zero gap.
The Wahl 5-Star Razor Edger give my Andis T-Outliners a good competitive run. I might need a little more time to say which one is the better of the two. But for now, I give these a 4.5 and the Andis T-Outliners a 4.67.
Just for the context of hair type - I’m a black dude, I like to keep my hair short, and I frequently give myself shape-ups.
After trying the Andis T-Outliner, I was not only a little let down by the sharpness of the cut it gave (it was good but not great) but also had it completely die on me with only a years worth of use. It was time for an upgrade.
I’ve spent tons of time online searching for the closest shave you can possibly get from a set of clippers and my God these are it. These include a warning that the clippers can and will cut your skin if you’re not careful, and with good reason! I am not disappointed with these trimmers whatsoever.
ok so i own the wahl detailer and the wahl edger
i purchase both on amazon, if you ask me which one to buy i will say "i dont know" they work very similar to me
They both get little bit hot, the detailer is light weight and smaller and it has a large blade,
The wahl razor edger is little bigger and it has a smaller blade, the both can do the same job for you
Note:wahl detailer.. i set up the wahl detailer to 0 overlap and it feels good man, it feels like if it was scratching you but you can't see it
Over all it does the job nice lines and everything
Note: wahl razor edger,i set up to 0 overlap, and it feels better than the detailer same job,clean nice lines and everything,also the blade is smaller so it will help you little bit more than a large blade, but it will not sratch you as bad as the detailer
I dont know which one to recmmend, so buy it and try it
Stands up to a massive clientele, darn near powerful enough to cut an entire head of hair with (over comb). Still can't do very well on facial hair of men that have stubble like tree trunks, but nothing can to be fair. Best set of edgers I've had in 12 years of barbering. WAHL never fails me. Favorite company. Andis and other companies break too easy, sometimes within weeks. Stick with Wahl for pro's!
Purchased as gift for husband and they blow any other clippers I’ve got him in the past right out of the water! He loves them. And work so well he spends much less time in the bathroom cutting his hair.

Nice quiet running edger
I wish there were more guards but it gets the job done. I usually keep a beard and like to buzz it down to the longest setting every month or so.
Tried all different types of trimmers and edgers and couldn’t find the right one until I spoke with my friends barber. He steered me to the right product and I’m edging my son’s hair with these and it’s perfect.
Works great!
Works okay. Doesn't get as close as I'd prefer. Something about the way you have to hold it makes it nearly impossible to do a hard part. For the price it gets the job done.
