I have tried many beard balms and oils. I found 2 brands I liked, mountaineer brand and honest Amish. The Amish smells really bad to me and they don’t offer any scents. Mountaineer however I love but only 1 of their scents. I saw the many different “flavors” from GBS and thought I would try a couple. I ordered cigar and tequila lemon. Most beard balms the scent goes away after a few hours, with these my beard smells good even the next morning. I’m also amazed at how well it kept my curly beard straight and in place. Did I just find my new favorite beard care products...? I think so
Previously had the Rum scented one and I liked it but wanted to try something new so I chose the Cigar Vanilla. As most people said it smells more like gingerbread, cinnamon, Christmas etc. I really like the scent.
There are times I get cigar smell but mostly it’s that gingerbread scent. I have a pretty full and long beard and it doesn’t take a whole lot of this. It really does make your beard soft.
It’s a balm so if you need something for hold I suggest a wax or something along those lines. There are times I have to use something with a firm hold due to my beard’s fullness.
But this will give you a soft beard that smells really good. I had several co-workers today walk by and ask what smelled so good. I heard one girl say she smelled cinnamon and another who said she kept getting the scent all day but it wasn’t offensive or over powering. Just occasional hints.
I like this so much I ordered another tin of it the next day.
My favorite of GBS' beard balms (so far, haven't tried them all), this is my favorite scent, and absolutely, unequivocally, my wife's favorite of all time. Seriously, she loves this stuff so much she is encouraging my beard growth, mostly because of the softness it adds, and also the smell.
About the smell: I don't get but a small, latent whiff of tobacco. Mostly, it smells like pumpkin pie, heavier on the cinnamon and clove. Especially this time of year (Fall), it's the greatest thing to step out into the crisp air smelling like the kitchen at Thanksgiving. I'd wear a cologne of this all day.
This by far is one of my favorite scents in this beard balm. My husband uses it daily to tame his beard and it does a fantastic job. The scent smells incredible and a little definitely goes a long way-- lasting all day. When he wears your beard balms his beard is shiny, healthy and tamed without looking or feeling greasy or oily. Love running my fingers thru his beard and my fingers pick up the scent...it's addicting how amazing they smell! You make a phenomenal product that we're both addicted to!
I have multiple oils and other products from Grave Before Shave, but this is my first beard balm from them.
The cigar blend intrigued me and sounded nice so i gave it a shot. and I AM IMPRESSED
it smells great! its a little strong at first, but i either become used to it, or it becomes more subtle during wear, Im not actually sure.
my GF has complimented me on the scent, and it has become a scent i enjoy!
Aside from the scent i love the quality of the this product! you can tell that GBS is a responsible company who really cares about putting out a quality product! making me, as a consumer, very grateful!
Scraped just a little bit out with my thumb, rub it between my fingers as instructed and apply to my beard. and it applies quite easily. Followed by a comb through and my beard is feeling great and my skin underneath feels nice and hydrated!
The tin itself is very good looking, love the artwork, another plus is that i was surprised at the depth of the tin. I was expecting much less, but they give you a liberal amount! always a nice surprise.
I am looking forward to trying more balms! This is my new go-to for all beard products.

Exactly the scent I was looking for! Used it before I went to bed. Mild smell and lasted all night but not overly powering. I could still smell the scent faintly coming off my beard in the morning. After my morning shower and drying my beard it was soft and I could tell a huge difference after just one use. Without using this my beard felt like a wire brush.
The hold on this is not significantly strong. I think this was medium hold, which would be consistent to what I got. I do still have some stragglers from my beard but this could be from different things, needing to trim, use it longer, use more of it, or get a heavier hold. I used about a pinky nail worth the first time. This also did not leave my beard looking oily or shiny.
I will be using this product again and looking for others from them. Very pleased!
I love the scent. This stuff keeps my beard nice and soft and smelling delicious. I can definitely notice the difference if I don’t use it for a day. Would recommend to anyone with facial hair that is looking to make hairs more manageable and less rough.
I ordered two Grave Before Shave beard balms: the Cigar Blend (vanilla) and Gentlemen's Blend (bourbon). Both products worked well to provide hold and help weigh down my beard to keep it from sticking out too much. The balms dissolved easily in my hands and applied evenly to my beard. Of the two scents, the Cigar Blend was more pleasant. I also found the Cigar Blend scent to be lighter and less noticeable which was a plus to me. The Gentlemen's Blend smelled nice, but I found it a bit overpowering and too noticeable to wear at the office. Lastly, in addition to the Grave Before Shave balms, I use a beard conditioner from another company. The conditioner goes on before the balms to soften my beard and moisturize the skin underneath. All in all I am a satisfied customer and will purchase more Grave Before Shave products in the future.
I love everything about this balm - the decent hold, the vanilla scent that sticks around all day - but the consistency can be problematic. I purchased a tin of the bay rum scent and it was fine, but with this cigar blend tin I’ve had trouble with hard, little pellets forming when I rub the balm into my fingertips. They won’t break down and then I end up having to brush them out of my beard. I contacted the company and they said this can be due to temperature changes during storage or shipping and suggested heating the balm up before use. It’s not convenient, but I use a hair dryer to melt the top layer in the tin and let it cool and reform before applying. This seems to work well, but again, it’s not ideal.
I like this stuff and it works well. The only reason I dinged this 1 star is the scent doesn't last that long. If I play with my beard it kind of comes back, but that's my only gripe and who knows. Maybe I just go nose blind to it after an hour or so. It's not as greasy as I read either. A little goes along way so remember that when applying it. Overall I would recommend this.
