Dr. Squatch Pine Tar Soap - Mens Soap with Natural Woodsy Scent and Skin Scrub Exfoliation - Black Soap Bar Handmade with Pine Tar, Olive, Coconut Organic Oils in USA

Gold Moss 4/5: loved the smell and the soap itself. Didn’t leave me feeling dry and I like knowing that i’m using a natural soap without a bunch of chemicals. It gets a 4/5 because of the square shape and hard corners. After two or so weeks that goes away but I don’t like jabbing myself with non-rounded corners. I will be buying more of these!!

Pine Tar 2/5: The only thing I like is the smell. I should have taken the name more seriously, the soap is black and leaves a black residue which is offputing. The soap is very abrasive and has bits of actual wood in it which I do not like at all!! I fell like i’m going to get a splinter every time I use it.

I have yet to try the cedar citrus bar because the other two bars smelled better. I may update after trying it.

It is a fairly good bar of soap. I don't usually waste time with barred soaps because they all make my skin tight and dry. This one did not and thats mostly the reason its getting 4 stars. It smells great lathering and washing but it does not smell like anything more than an unscented soap by the time you get out of the shower. The scent does not last which is disappointing because I love smelling like I just rolled around in some pine chips..not kidding.
The size of the bar is inadequate. Ive only had it since Monday, its Thursday now and its about half gone. I imagine it wont last longer than a week-tops at this rate.
Smells great.
Cleans great.
Smooth and NOT dry or tight skin.
Small size.
Scent doesn't last at all.

My husband has dry itchy skin and wanted to try some of the pine tar soap. Like most men he does not like girly soaps that smell or leave you oily or too dry feeling. He received this as a Christmas gift and gave it a shot and really liked how it left his skin feeling clean, exfoliated, but not dry and had a light manly smell. He asked me to get him some from amazon and I found another brand that seemed similar but a little cheaper and bought for him. While the other brand wasn't bad he continued to say how much he liked the first kind he got and how the replacement brand just wasn't as good feeling on his skin. So obviously I made it up to him and bought the largest pack available (5 pack) because this is the only soap he wants now and it's cheaper to buy a bunch at once. He has since thanked me profusely for getting him the "good one" and how much better the exfoliating is in it. I will only buy this brand for him now...there is no going back to any other soap. If you have an extremely picky soap husband or maybe you are the hard to please one this is probably the soap for you. It may not be the cheapest, but it's worth the little extra for the quality and happiness.

I’m a 58-year old manly male. I discovered Dr. Squatch just accidentally stumbling on one of their ads while on Facebook. It was nothing less than divine squatch intervention!

I ordered the three-pack sampler. When the shipment arrived by SquatchEx, I stayed awake all night hitting trees with sticks, making howling sounds, and throwing rocks at unsuspecting passers by anticipating the experience. I tried the Pine Tar first, and I have not been disappointed! It is a squatchsome soap that left me feeling like I had just hiked naked up a pine-tree covered mountain with my pet bear (on his leash, of course).

If you’re a manly man (like me), you really will like these soaps! Find your inner Squatch and get ‘em. They have my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!

This is great soap if you've got really dry skin, and you want a pure soap without all of the additives other soaps contain. I bought it a little over a week ago and am impressed by the texture of the soap, the way it makes my skin feel, and the overall smell. I did read many of the reviews online about the soap getting used up fairly quickly. So, heeding those warnings, when I use it, I turn the shower water off, and suds up and let it sit for a couple of minutes. It suds up nicely. After a week of use, I still have about 3/4 of a bar left. Enough to last through the rest of the month. CAUTION: If you are used to taking 30 minute showers and lathering up over and over again with soap, this soap will disappear fast. So, be wise, and use it sparingly. It's great soap if you do. I rated it 4 stars only because I have to go out of my way to turn the shower off and lather up to keep the soap from getting used up too quickly. Otherwise, for those of you looking for an all natural soap with glycerin, this is a good buy. I will probably purchase this again, and even try their other soaps.

Got the well packaged, great smelling, good lathering, very tough on stink and grime.the manly fragrance lasts for hours,I work indoors&outdoors for a living, day in and day out,I normally shower twice daily in the summer months, but I noticed for some Reason I didn't feel like it was as necessary as normal to shower upon waking up.as I normally do..hell I actually felt confident enough I was able to skip a few morning showers because of this stuff.im not saying i smelled shower fresh after waking.but i noticed i definatley still felt cleaner than with my normal soap.ive been a die hard AXE fan for years..but honestly this squatch soap is the best I've ever used. I love it.the only thing I noticed was that the bar lasted me about 10 days......I can't fault the bar or the inventor for that..if anyone knows a good bar of soap it's me.i work my ass off.and get dirty and sweaty at times, this stuff cuts right through normal filth.its not a degreaser..it's a great body soap.id love to buy a bar every ten days I'm not exactly sure yet I can . probably will buy one more still.if it came in a much bigger bar at a better price.id be a customer for life.i can't compliment it enough.i like it.

When I received this soap, I thought there is simply no way I would be able to stand such a strong smell! However, my husband is a Yeti and prefers Pine Tar soap, so we have been trying them all. As it sat on the bathroom counter awaiting its turn in the shower I just thought "oh lord, this is way too strong smelling!" So the fine gents at Dr. Squatch suggested the Gold Moss bar, which I bought - much less strong of a sent. Funny thing, though. Once the Pine Tar bar was getting its turn in the shower, I became so fond of it that when it came time for Gold Moss, I found I missed the scent of Pine Tar! We just received our three pack of Pine Tar and I can't wait for Gold Moss to be done (although it's very nice, don't get me wrong). Both Lady and Yeti Wetzel are very happy with this product. A tip for those who say it gets used up too fast. If you are hairy like my Yeti, maybe don't use your chest hair like a flippin' cheese grater with that bar! Get a bath sponge, apply bar to sponge, apply sponge to Yeti. It lasts three times as long, and you will be just as clean. I have tried many many pine tar soaps, and this one is a keeper! Highly recommend.

If you like strong perfumery feminine scents, this soap is not for you. If you wanna feel like you just stepped out of a log cabin to a crisp dewey forest morning and jumped in the river to wash off after chopping wood and swooning women, then look no further. This soap not only cleans better than anything I've ever tried previously, but it leaves a manly smell that lasts. A manly smell that smells... manly. Get yours today, you can't go wrong. And this lasts longer than any COLD PRESSED soaps I've tried. Cold pressed soaps tend to wear down faster than store bought chemical filled bars of sadness, so make sure you use a soap dish or a Dr. Squatch Soap Saver!

I finally caved in and bought this after seeing ad upon ad and video upon video of this soap bar, and a plethora of compliments on this soap bar. I think this Pine Tar scent is overplayed. I first got it and from the commercials; "The garden of Eden" and a girl mentioning she was staying for breakfast from the way it smelled on the commercial had me thinking "okay, this is going to smell really good".

First thoughts:

It does smell pretty good, however it did remind me of a grandpa cologne at first but I quickly shook that thought from my mind. I was also hoping that this bar of soap will last pretty long and that I won't have to buy another bar next week for $10.

Initial Use:

This bar is pretty abrasive but tolerable like taking salt in your hand and rubbing it on your skin (weird analogy right?) Anyways, I was not able to get it to lather up very well at all like in the commercial, barely any lather. It did turn the water black a little bit and left some black residue on me during passes (it rinsed off, so I am not concerned about it). My skin does feel refreshed and softer from the exfoliation caused by the bar.

In conjunction with this soap bar, I also bought the Anwenk wooden soap holder thing for $6 to lay the Pine Tar bar on top of after rinsing it to help it last longer.

Will update on occasion for how long it lasts.

My personal favorite is pine tar. It has a very woodsy smell and generally stays on your skin all day long. These bars of soap are a must for organic enthusiasts . They do crumble a bit because they are hand made...I recommend using a back brush to lather up the bar with minimal direct skin contact . Exfoliation feels good with pine tar, so a little skin to soap contact is a must . Using ones hands to continue lathering can make the soap go a long way. Give it a try ! You’re getting quality ingredients.

Not sure about soap savers . I tried one and my soap stuck to it. It was still wet . My soap was in better condition after dab drying it with a towel and simply putting it back in the Dr Squatch box. So I’m on the fence about soap savers . No soap scum or mold on my bar using the Dr Squatch box either . The soap saver is OK. But when the soap sticks to the bottom and pulls chunks off you are losing MORE soap. Seems silly.

As for the people claiming this soap has wood chips in it- you’re crazy lol. No it doesn’t. This has sand and oatmeal as exfoliation .
