I still have a full head of hair but I like to shave my head and have been shaving my head on and off (mostly on) for 15 years and this clipper is perfect for the look I want: Which is to shave my head as short as possible while still leaving a very, very, very slight stubble that you can still make out my hairline. And this clipper does that because it come with Wahl's shortest blade which is a 6x0 blade that cuts to .2mm. Also, the guide combs make it very easy to do multiple types of fades, if you so choose.
And the V5000 motor that comes with this clipper is powerful and gives you a NICE, SMOOTH and VERY EVEN CUT with ABSOULUTELY NO SNAGGING or SLICING of the scalp. For those people that are complaining about slicing their scalp with this clipper, I think: 1) You're holding the clipper wrong, 2) You're using the wrong angle, 3) Your blades aren't aligned properly, or 4) A combination of one or more of those things.
Also, for those people giving this clipper a bad review because it doesn't shave your head like Mr. Clean, use a razor blade not a clipper. Because no matter what clipper or trimmer you buy, it will NEVER shave your head like a razor blade because it has to have a bottom blade and a top cutting blade, and no matter how thin someone can manufacture the bottom blade it will ALWAYS sit between your scalp and the top cutting blade. Basically you're giving this clipper a bad review because you're expecting this clipper to do something it's not designed to do. That would be like me buying a supercharged Hemi V8 and then complaining about the gas mileage.
Anyway, the clipper feels sturdy and well made even though it's made of plastic. And it fits comfortably in both of my hands and the power cord is much thicker and longer (8ft) than my other buzzers which is nice. And I was a little worried about the clipper heating up with its stronger motor but it stayed cool throughout my 35-40 minute shave. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this clipper for those people that aren't going for a Mr. Clean look but a really, really short shaved head. For everyone else, USE A RAZOR BLADE.

Very good job I will not be using a razor ever again. No cuts no injuries no drama. Exceeded my expectations. However, I was disappointed that it didn't come with a carrying case. I will use the one that came with my $20 clippers.
Glad i ignored the bad reviews, this product was just what i was looking for. shaved my head with no guard and felt it cut my hair shorter than other clippers I've used in the past. I've been shaving my head with no guard for about 10 years and i was apprehensive about purchasing because of some of the pictures people posted with there heads all cut up from it. I tested it on my upper thigh before using it on my head and no scratches so i did my head with it. high quality clippers and would definitely recommend or purchase again. not sure what the people were doing that scratched there head up with it but I've had no problems. great product, good price and the clippers pay for themselves after just a few haircuts. if you're looking to style your hair these aren't for you but if you're just trying to get the close buzz then definitely purchase.
This is my 4th set of clippers from this company. I have been extremely satisfied with the 3 previous machines purchased from Wahl. I have been cutting my hair for the last 7 years, only going to a barber on special occasions. On my last visit I asked my barber for recommendations on a balding shaver and he recommended this unit.
I saw the reviews and was a bit skeptical at first. But after further review I decided to take my babera advice. Needless to say, I am extremely satisfied with the Walh professional 5-star. In seven years I have never been able to cut my hair this short with clippers. It cuts to the eccuvilant of 24-36 hours a raver shaved head. I didn't have any nics or scratches like other reviewers.
After seeing some other reviews, and certainly accompanying pictures, I was definitely apprehensive to order this, let alone try it! After 5 uses I feel comfortable leaving a review, and let me just say it's great.
I don't mean to sound rude, or snobbish, but I really don't see what the issue people are having with cutting themselves is. I will say that I had read other reviews giving a heads up about ensuring the blade plates were aligned first; which mine were right out of the box. I have had zero issues with cutting myself. The first use I was so slow and gentle because I was worried it was going to look like Edward Scissorhands was my barber. I even cut on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend so I had three days to heal up before going back to work.
Tonight I even went quick, and was a bit careless, just to see if I would get any cuts. Still nothing, not even a nick. So, if you're worried about cutting yourself, I really' don't think you need to be. I've been shaving my own head a little under 2 years, so I am no master, and this works great for me. I replaced my previous Wahl clippers, which were also good but just weren't getting as short as I wanted. After using these new ones I could tell it was a little shorter, but really noticed the difference when I used a towel after shower, and the towel "sticks" going across your head.
Something I wondered but couldn't find any information about was if these are primarily for African American hair, as I kept seeing the product associated with use for that purpose. While I can't speak to that effectiveness, I can say these work just fine on my Caucasian head. Overall I am very please with these clippers. Also, the accessories it comes with are very good as well. The cleaning brush works so well the clippers still look nearly brand new for me. The only knock I have with these clippers is that I don't get a "one-shot" stroke like I did with my old ones. Maybe I just need to still learn what the best angle is for cutting, but I find I often have to go back over spots and that these are a tad more time consuming.
Overall I highly recommend these for anyone wanting a super close shave.

I purchased this because I was looking for a closer when trimmer my facial hair and body hair without using a razor. I had no idea how close it would be. These clippers are ideal if you would prefer not to use a razor. But be warned , the cut very close and you will scar yourself pretty bad if you aren't careful. I have several scratch marks across my chest as a result. They've turned pretty dark and looks like they may turn into scars :(. I've since learned how to use these very sharp clippers correctly. I'm satisfied with this purchase.
This clipper is awesome! I've always said I would never use a razor on my head as it's too much work and I never really liked the look. I wanted as short as possible without that. I've been shaving my head for a long time with a no-guard clipper for a long time. I've been going bald for about 10 years now. This whole time I thought that was as short as it gets. A friend recommended this so I tried it, really not expecting it to be much better than I what I already had. Wrong. This cuts super short and gives the look I want without the razor. It's very comfortable and is exactly what I was looking for. Build quality is good. Looking forward to using this for a long time.
For going bald, this razor cannot be beat. If you are looking for anything more than a 1 to keep some hair on your head, this isn't for you. I have tried other electric razors on amazon, and nothing beats the closeness, smoothness, and overall good job of this Wahl.

Bottom line: If you don't care about the cord, this item cannot be beat, cheers to WAHL.
These clippers are not for tender-headed customers. I have a tough scalp that's been shaved bald for quite a number of years and these clippers cut close enough to remind me that they are pro clippers and do what they are designed to do. I go about two weeks between cuts so I'm not wasting my time, but these clippers will probably always cut clean with daily use. Keep them oiled and disinfected so they will always be ready when you need them. Make sure they are properly tuned, per the instructions as well. Mine were tuned right out of the box. I cleaned and oiled them and cut the hair on my head and my face. Once you get used to handling them, you should have no problems using these clippers on the face; just make sure they are well-tuned so as to not incur injuries. Best balding clippers I have owned so far and I'm betting that this will be the last clippers I buy, only to replace the blades when needed.
These clippers got my hair cut very short with no nicks. I would compare the length to about 1-2 days growth after using a razor. I have had no issues with cutting my scalp, even with a mine field of moles on my dome. Some people have posted pictures of the backs of their head and necks being cut by these clippers. This is due to not using the clippers properly and holding them at the right angle while cutting the back of your head, not due to the clippers. If it was due to the clippers, it would’ve happened all over their heads. Holding them at the same angle while cutting my hair on the back of my head has caused zero issues. These are great and I highly recommend them.
