Wahl Clipper Groomsman Trimmer for Men for Beard, Mustache, Stubble, Battery Operated (Batteries included in Kit) Great Holiday Gift for men for travel, by the Brand used by Professionals #9906-717

I used this trimmer almost upon arrival because my beard was really out of control. The user manual was a bit all over the place and not quite clear (no indication as to how to place the trimmer piece on the blades), but once I figured it out (and also when I saw how to use different grades for length), it was very easy to use. I don't think I'll ever use the attachments because the trimmer itself is simple and more than enough for my needs. Just for that I can give it the five stars it deserves. Obviously, though, whoever wrote the manual didn't have the trimmer on hand, so I won't hold it against the product or the manufacturer.

I bought this battery powered trimmer for a trip to Thailand (I'm from the USA). I've had a corded 110V Wahl clipper for years that I use to trim my beard down to stubble, but I obviously couldn't use that in Thailand and I didn't want to look like a wild man after 2.5 weeks there. I bought this and a AA battery charger (which works off any wall voltage/frequency, as most chargers do). I didn't even need the battery charger; the 2 rechargeable AAs I put in the Wahl Clipper Groomsman Trimmer worked through several shaves before the trip, and at least 3 shaves during the trip, without recharging. Rechargeable NiMH AA batteries are known to survive better than alkaline AAs for high current draw applications (e.g. in my old point-and-shoot digital camera), so maybe that helped.

Other thoughts:
This trimmer was smaller than I'm accustomed to, but that's perfect for travel. For traveling, I put the 1/16" (1.5mm) blade guard on it (a good length for stubble) to protect it in my toiletry bag, and didn't bring any other accessories.

It's a loud, subjectively twice as loud as my old 110V Wahl clipper. And it's an annoying higher-pitched sound, rather than a low hum. But otherwise it seems well engineered. At $13, I'd pay an extra few bucks for it to be quieter. If quieter, it'd be a 5-star product.

The second time I tested it, with a blade guard to get a "stubble" length, it was often grabbing hairs and yanking them out. Ouch! But that's the only shave during which this happened. I wonder if the blade guard wasn't quite on completely/properly. Make sure it snaps into place, and is not tilted/cockeyed; it should be an even distance from the blades across the whole width of the blade.

I'm giving this item 5 stars because not one was on impressed with the price I was also impressed How that cut!
I thought they rechargeable but then I got to thinking I'm always on the run so I'll rather you use batteries in my case because I'm not always near a plug. They cut very clean and they're very sharp I see why everyone wrote a good review is why I wanted to give them a try. I recently bought some andis and I very disappointed and the price and the way they cut..

11.99 great price and performance!

This trimmer is so totally cool. Never used one before (new beard) and it's so easy with Groomsman Beard and Mustache. A number of head attachments let you select the length of beard or mustache you want. I use it every day now.

I purchased it to replace one that went kaput after many years. It does the job well but seems very much noisier than the older model. My main issue, which cost a star: It has an instruction insert (I think one that is many years old) that needs replacement. I'm not very mechanical and need to be told information as if I'm a sixth grader. A t-shaped plastic piece is included in the set and I couldn't figure out from the instructions how it is used. I sent an email to Wahl inquiring how it is used and received a reply that was totally nonresponsive. You are a good company, Wahl, but please hire a professional writer/editor and redo your materials. Does the t-shaped plastic protect the shaver head when traveling? I give up. But the machine works well.

Wahl Clipper Groomsman Trimmer for Men for Beard, Mustache, Stubble, Battery Operated (Batteries included in Kit) Great Holiday Gift for men for travel, by the Brand used by Professionals

I like the size, the fact that it doesn't need to be recharged (uses standard AA batteries), the narrow clipper head for trimming, etc.
I'm not much of a fan of the noise that it makes, however. It is so loud that I have to close my bathroom door and bedroom door when I use it, so as not to disturb others in our home.
Overall, it's a good product, but in the future I will probably ask a question online regarding noise level of any prospective beard trimmers.

What a price and free delivery, thank you to everyone! My last Wahl had 3 batteries and you had to basically destroy the batteries in order to get them out to recharge them. This takes 2 AA batteries and they come out smoothly. Must have fired the engineers from the last model. Works great, fantastic price, lots of accessories to reduce mistakes.

Works awesome!! Has all the attachments you'll ever need. Only fault I can find is that it's a little bit loud but for the money this is 5 stars for sure

I got this for my boyfriend for Christmas. He had been asking for one for awhile, and for the price I don't know why I kept putting it off. For 13 bucks, it's well worth it.

He comes and goes with having a beard, but the last couple of months he has really been sticking with it. He said this trimmer works great, aside from sometimes shooting little hairs into his eyes, which was the only downside he could find. It comes with a couple little accessories including a stand and oil to keep it running well. He did mention that he's never needed to stop to clean it out, like you sometimes have to do with the big trimmers.

I also use it when I'm giving him a haircut, it's really great for around the ears and the back of the neck. Around the ear is a spot I've struggled with(hold the ear down, get a good angle, get the large trimmers to maneuver that spot, etc etc) and now I can do it without having him hold his ear out of the way and in the process, having his hand in my way. Also, and this is a huge plus!: he no longer worries about me chopping one of his ears off...which I got a large chunk once when using scissors. oops!

The only downfall was that it's battery operated. I don't like tossing batteries in the garbage because it's both toxic and expensive, but if you get rechargables for this, you're all set.

definitely a great buy at a great price. I hope they last forever!

I have tried many different products for beard trimming in the past, including several much more expensive models from other brands.

This is my favorite, by far. Here's why:

It has a great selection of beard guides, from very short stubble to very long.

I myself maintain a beard that takes three weeks to grow from a completely shaved face and this trimmer helps to easily maintain it.

I have thick, bushy, curly beard hair and this trimmer still works well for me.

It is powered by AA batteries but it lasts me for months. It is more convenient than trimmers that have a built in battery because you can replace these batteries quickly if you're in a rush and can't wait for the battery to charge. Also, built in batteries will degrade over time.

it also comes with a few accessories like a stand, brushes and oil for the machine. I haven't used the oil yet after half a year of owning it. I will just buy another one instead if it ever becomes dull or breaks, which hasn't happened so far after a half year of ownership.

Cons? I wish it had more beard guides. I believe it comes with five of various sizes, which do work well, but considering they're made of plastic it wouldn't have been too hard to include twice as many for a more precise size.

Still the best trimmer I've tried and QUITE a bargain as well.
