The urban woods scent is great and compliments their Taconic Shave Beard Oil. It has a medium hold, which keeps it pretty much in place without being tacky. I use this and the beard oil and it keeps my beard soft and in control. Oh, and did I say it smells great? Yeah, it really does.
I got this product for a discounted price in exchange for a review. My husband has recently retired and after 20 years of shaving he can finally grow a beard. He was having issues with it being scratchy and bristly and honestly he would wake himself up at night. I was looking for a beard moisturizer or conditioner when I saw this, so I thought why not, especially since it was being offered at a discounted price.
Once we received the product the first thing I did was smell it. Both my husband and I agreed the smell is great. Very earthy, woodsy, masculine without being overbearing. I followed the directions and used my thumb nail to scrape some balm. YOU DO NOT NEED A LOT of balm. His beard right now is about an inch long, so going off of that ratio, less than half the size of a pea. It rubbed very evenly into his beard and wasn't greasy. The next day is beard was much softer. I will buy this product again, as I plan on gifting it to my Dad and my family members with beards. Great purchase, great size (easy to travel with), and amazing scent.
My husband has grown his beard for a little over 3 years now and every winter it gets itchy and uncomfortable. This product softens the beard and leaves a very pleasant, not overly sweet smell ("urban woods"). A little goes a long way, just a dab is enough when walking out of the shower.
Very impressed! I got this at a discount in exchange for a review but I would pay full price to repurchase again. Great stocking stuffer!
The product descriptions says it is a light to medium hold. I would definitely call it a light hold, in my opinion. I found it to be more of a balm that provides a shine rather than a wax to hold your facial hair in place. Overall, though, I do like the smell and the fact that it makes my mustache look healthy.
I'm also prone to acne breakouts and this did not cause problems for me.
Pros: Pleasant smell, nice shine, healthy look
Cons: Minimal hold, a bit greasy
I recieved this product yesterday and the first thing I noticed when opening the tin was the great smell of the balm, the product is very easy to use, just scrape a little bit of the balm with your fingers and it will melt very easily so it can be applied; I've been growing my beard for a couple of months and while it's not very large yet it had started itching and getting scruffy, with the balm I noticed that It could be tamed easily and the scent included has gotten me a couple of compliments alreay!
Disclaimer: I got this product at a discount for my honest unbiased review, but I would surely purchase it at full price :)
