My husband received this as a gift at Christmas and LOVED IT! He had been using the Gillette Foamy all his life and never knew this stuff even existed. I told him I was going to go ahead and order him some more and he said OK as long as it's not too expensive. So I'm not going to tell him how much it costs. He's worth it!
Been using this product for about 3 months. I like it both as a pre-shave and also as a shave oil. Very slick. I can do two without reapplying the beard lube if I am using it as a shave oil. Close shave with no nicks or cuts. No razor burn even when shaving against the grain. Will use the 3 oz tube as my travel shave oil. Will not need to carry shaving cream when using this product.
I've been shaving with cheap shaving cream for years, and now that I've switched to this lube I will not go back. This product provides a tingling sensation on application, waking up the skin and helping hairs stand up for a closer shave. It feels rich and allows the razor to slide across the skin (even with several days stubble built up). I have experienced FAR less pulling than with other shave creams. In addition, this product has decreased the razor burn and bumps that I get on my neck after shaving. I would highly recommend letting the product sit on the skin for 3 ot 5 minutes before pulling a razor across the skin to make sure you give the product time to do its job. I would highly recommend this (and other) Jack Black products!
For some background, I have very sensitive skin and have had to go on antibiotics after shaving to get rid of the irritation it caused to my skin.
Not long ago, I discovered the Jack Black line. I now use several of their products and the Beard Lube is probably the one I couldn't go without. I have tried this product two separate ways; strictly as a shaving lube, and then as a preshave. Although I saw decent results using the product alone, the results I have seen using it underneath a shaving gel are far superior. My regimen is as follows: I wash my face with the Jack black daily cleanser, I then scrub GENTLY with the Jack black face scrub, I apply a tiny amount of the beard lube, and then I apply my shave cream directly on top of the beard lube (I use Nivea sensitive skin shaving gel). Using this routine, I have not once experienced any irritation whatsoever and my skin always comes out looking fantastic with a very close shave.
I cannot recommend this product enough and it, along with other Jack black products, has drastically improved my skin when it comes to shaving.
My first electric shave (Norelco 9000 series) with this was surprisingly close and comfortable. I don't know much about men's grooming - I have average facial hair and my own office so only shave a couple of times a week. I was using Afta, which I thought was OK but was wishing for something more, and it took a little time to mow down the growth using multiple-multiple passes. Using this, on the other hand, the shaver seemed to get nearly everything in the first pass. I don't think I made three and everything was clean.
I rinsed the blades and the hair was not "clumpy" like it would jam them over a few shaves before cleaning. My face feels clean, too, not oily or heavily fragranced like Afta.

I purchased travel size Jack Black products for my husband as a stocking stuffer. He fell in love with this product so much that he bought this big container with a pump. He says he

He made an excellent point after doing the math that for as long as this lasts him and as little as he has to use compared to other products, he is actually saving money over all the products you can purchase in the drug store! Pretty fantastic pricing for a far superior product.
He uses it to shave his whole head and face.
I'm a big fan of 'wet shaving'. I have been shaving with straight razors, shavettes, and DE's for over 10 years now. One of the things I hate is all of the stuff you have to accumulate. Just to make lather you need soap, a brush, and a bowl (yes I know you can make it in your hand or on your face, but the lather isn't as good that way in my opinion). Jack Blacks Beard Lube cuts that down a lot.
The lather I get from this is as good as any of the shaving soaps I've used. It allows the blade to slide smoothly along the face, softens the hair, and allows you to cut the hair easily. The best feature of it is that it goes on CLEAR. That means I can actually see the hair's I'm shaving, and I can also see the direction of the hair growth. This is very important for me when shaving the neck and shaving with the grain of the hair. I would imagine this would be VERY helpful to a beginner of wet shaving too.
Less shaving items + clear lather + great performance = winner.
Plus, a little goes a long way. I bought this bottle 6 months ago and I still have tons left. Granted I don't shave every day, and when I do I just shave my neck, but I still think it's a great value. It also washes off easily, and it won't leave any residue on your straight razor.
This is my favorite shave product. I liked it so much I purchased other Jack Black products... All in One Hair and body wash (not so great), After Shave (great!)
I have been using the jack black beard lube with my safety razor for the last year and I can say that it has been the best thing I have found for my face. My process is something like this... I rub some into my whiskers before I take a shower then I stand in the shower with the hottest water I can handle for about two minutes right on my face. When is soon as I get out of the shower I do not dry my face off and I stepped over to the sink and apply more Jack black beard lube and massage it into my whiskers making sure that my face is still wet. Then I use my safety razor and the hairs just fall off. I have a very Fred Flintstone like beard and this has been the best and the least irritating shaving cream or gel I've ever used. The price may seem a little high but it's worth it.
Jack Black Beard Lube is more than a wonderful luxury -- which it is -- but also now a necessity. The smell is fantastic ...clean and masculine. The feel is silky, and the shave is far (FAR) closer than with any other product I have used in the past for shaving, in volving less effort, less pressure, and fewer strokes across the face with the razor. One push of the convenient pump dispenses the perfect amount for a shave, and at the (extremely slow, nearly invisible) rate my bottle is emptying, I am certain it will prove more cost-effective than the shaving gels and creams found in in the drug stores and grocery stores. I recommend this product enthusiastically, and imagine those who trust my recommendation and give it a try will be surprised -- as I was -- by how much they love it!
