First of all, I love the scent! I’m tempted to stop cutting my nose hairs so I can have an additional beard that needs oil. Lol! It absorbs really fast and it makes my beard feel silky smooth. It also didn’t make my face break out, which is a must.
Having grown a beard for the past 35 years I have had and do have quite a number of beard care products. I still use various beard products, not on a rotation basis, but I like changes now and then.
This product by Baxter is of good quality and does what it says it will do. I find it effective; as effective or more so that other products of this nature. The fragrance is purely up to the individual; some will like it while other sill not...that is just a fact. I personally like the smell of the stuff as does my wife which is all that count as far as I am concerned.
I do have a bit of a problem with the cost of this stuff as I have other beard care products which are just as effective and cost a bit less. On the other hand the cost is not much different that a couple of Happy Meals I periodically purchase for my grand kids (Lord, I wish I could wean them from that stuff), so I cannot get all that excited about it.
All in all this is a good product.
Beard oil isn't for everyone, but if you like the effects and are looking for something without an overwhelming aroma and don't like that super-shiny look, I think that this is a good option. I've used other oils, some of which have a very strong cedar scent or the like. Some tend to be very shiny, too, and I think that I should have just rubbed olive oil on my face. Not so with this one.
The advertise this as lightweight, and I agree. It's still oil, mind you, but it is a lightweight oil that comes across more like a mineral oil and less like a vegetable oil. They also say that it absorbs quickly...I don't quite agree, as my hands will still come away with a film on them if I rub my whiskers, even several minutes later. I don't actually expect beard oil to absorb, so it's not a negative to me - but don't expect it to absorb like a lotion.
While this doesn't come with a dropper and instead has an opening like a lot of essential oil bottles, it dispenses slowly and doesn't just pour out on to your hand. It's easy to get a small amount if you want. I think that they did a great job in sizing the opening to get the oil to come out correctly. When I saw the bottle top, I expected it to make a mess, but it doesn't.
At (as I type this) $27/bottle, this is on the higher end of price for beard oils, but it should last quite a long time. It's lightweight and subtle, and the best that I've used, but I've only tried a handful of them.
I got this beard oil for my husband since he seems to run through the stuff pretty quickly and is an essential item to have around our house. I am also very picky since I love the smell of his usual oil but we can only buy that once a year and it always runs out. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed the smell. My husband said it left his beard and face feeling very well moisturized and we both noticed how shiny and manageable it made his beard.
The lose of a star is due to a bottle design. All the beard oil in the past has a pump top however this one requires you to drop out a few drops on your hand each time. The problem is if you need a little more you hands are already covered in oil and then you get the bottle oily when reaching for more. Seems like a minor details but you don't want to lose your product to the outside of the bottle instead of on the beard.
Product inside was great, we highly recommend it. The bottle could use a redesign. :/
My husband has a short, well trimmed beard and he has tried a few different beard oils over the years. He likes this one the best because he says it lasts longer and it makes his face feel moisturized under his beard. He’s also used a few other products from Baxter of California and has been happy with all of them, so he remembers the name. I think it has a nice fragrance, but not overwhelming. It has, what I would call, a manly scent. His beard feels softer against my face as well. I like the packaging, in the blipped bottle, which may protect the oil, but it definitely looks nice. He says a little goes a long way.

We cannot show you how to grow a beard / mustache / sideburns, but we can sure take care of what you got.
INGREDIENTS
CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, PRUNUS ARMENIACA KERNEL OIL / APRICOT KERNEL OIL, PERSEA GRATISSIMA OIL / AVOCADO OIL, SQUALANE, OLEA EUROPAEA FRUIT OIL / OLIVE FRUIT OIL, PENTACLETHRA MACROLOBA SEED OIL, TOCOPHEROL, PARFUM / FRAGRANCE, SALICYLIC ACID, GLYCINE SOJA OIL / SOYBEAN OIL, LINALOOL, LIMONENE, COUMARIN, ALPHA-ISOMETHYL IONONE, CITRONELLOL, CITRAL, BENZYL ALCOHOL, CITRIC ACID.
It's made for beards but it's great for softening rough facial hair in general, such as mustaches and even goatees. It's not greasy and leaves no oily residue, which is great. The scent is pleasant and it takes only a few drops of oil to soften the feel of the hair. The downside is the price - the oil is very expensive for what it does, which is essentially a leave-in conditioner. If the price came down I'd be more inclined to purchase more.
My strong preference is to shave in the shower under a very hot spray and using Barbasol Shave Regular Size 10z Barbasol Shave Cream Regular 10oz pack of 2 and a throw away razor that I dry off carefully and can use for three or four months.
My beard is very tough, my skin is very tender, and that approach works very well.
But there are times when I cannot shower and shave, and then this oil works almost as well. I keep a bottle in my backpack and it has worked in France, Italy, Brazil, California and even in the Catskills.
Good stuff.

This oil comes in a protective blue colored glass container which will extend its life from damaging sun rays. It is organic product and contains natural ingredients. I personally use it for my hair since I am a woman and I have no beard. Bottle is small and if used for a beard it can last for a long time, for me it did not last all that long since I used it in my hair. My hair is color treated and I wash it often since I exercise a lot. This oil helps re-hydrate the hair. Oil contains avocado oil and squalane. It does not have any fragrances. It comes in a really nice packaging which makes it a nice present.
This is made of very good moisturizing oils. I find that avocado oil in particular is very nice to use on beards, hair, and hair. This oil doesn't come out with a eye dropper like a lot do - instead it just has a inner drip top with a screw off lid, so it dispenses one or two drops at a time, and that works better than the eye droppers, I think, as it is less likely to get too much out at once, causing a potential oily look.
The scent of this oil is very light, woody and masculine, but it is very faint, and I don't even notice it after a minute or two.
Baxter of California Beard Oil is impressive it softens facial hair and skin. I’ve used The Art of Shaving Pre-Shave Oil as well and I found the Baxter of California oil to soften the same if not a little better.
The scent of the Baxter of California Beard Oil is very subtle but still pleasant. This 1oz bottle should last several months depending on use.
Overall Baxter of California Beard Oil is an excellent product. If you or a loved one is looking for beard or shaving products give Baxter of California a try.
